Changing paint color on Aluminum Window

I bought a picture window for the front of my TD that I'm planing on building and it has a white frame. I have another one for the side and it has a black frame. I want to wrap it with silver colored aluminum and would like all windows to be the same color. Has anyone painted this type of aluminum before? I even thought of white aluminum for the roof and silver for the sides due to the withe window frame in front...maybe it'd be cooler in the hoter weather?

I've painted a lot of aluminum window trim rings and aluminum outboards and outdrives. The metal needs to be sanded smoth, wiped down with acetone or denatured alcohol and then primed. I usually use a spray can of zinc chromate for the primer because it's quick and dries very fast. Then you can spray the finish color. Build up a couple coats with light scuffing in between coats to get a nice slick finish. Dave

I like to media blast them and then spray with clear.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to atempt painting the window. I'd rather have one solid color (silver) on the trailer. Can I use spray pain in a can? After I prepare the metal frame?

Sure can... to make sure it's a high quality exterior paint I'd suggest using a Rust-Oleum product or go to an automotive paint supply store and see if they have a spray in the color you want. Remember to clean and prime the aluminum well first - a good prep is the key to a nice finish.

Great and thanks! The only problem I'll have now is the white vinyl holding the window in the frame.
