12v DC Eletric Panel

Postby Dee Bee » Tue Aug 03, 2004 10:54 am

I am in the planning stage of a tiny trailer.... This weekend I built the heart of my 12v DC electrical panel. This will monitor the batter volts and amps drawn by the various loads. Comments and ideas welcome

Happy Camping

Very nice Dee. Clean job! Can you give us some specs, schematics, rear photos, etc?

Yep, that's it all right... Give the specs to shrug, but give me the actual unit!

Sign me up for the specs/design. I'd love to have a unit that tells me how much is left in the battery. For measuring amps, I just used a vol/amp meter once to determine how much each item draws to give me an idea how much load they put on the battery. (see near bottom of this page for my measurements for those interested.... http://campadk.com/pjsnoozer/pjfeatures.html )

All the measuring devices out there seem to give you voltage instead of % used which would be nice.

Very nice design and layout! I have been in electronics since 1989 and not many people today layout out panels as nice as that! Is that LCD the Radio Shack model?

I picked up a couple of these.......haven't tried them out yet though. I'm going to install them with a momentary switch, so I can check how much "juice" I have left.
