Guys,

I'm just being curious but every trailer that I've ever seen has the eye-bolt at the front and the shackles at the rear - why????????

When a leaf spring compresses, it gets longer. You need to leave one end free for it to move as it gets longer and shorter. If the end that moves is at the back, the wheel can move back a little as you go over a bump and it gives a better ride. Jeepers will switch the free end to the back on the front end of jeeps. Does bad things to the steering but gives a better ride .
