Plywood walls

Postby Kman77 » Tue Feb 03, 2009 1:05 am

I was wondering how things such as wall lights are attached to the wall when they are built of 3/4 inch plywood. It seems like it would be difficult to run things such as wiring anywhere on the walls, also with only 3/4's of an inch to work with the windows and door would have to be very shallow.

Any helps appreciated

Mine runs in the 3/4 left from the wall studs where the foam runs. I used 1/2 depth carlom boxes for electrical

After the 3/4 foam insulation and the wiring is installed I veneered the inside with 1/4 " luan and cleared with marine spar varnish.

The 2 switch boxes shown are equiped with a rotary switch for dc and a toggle for ac. We sleep feet to the hitch so the low switch is easy to reach from a sleeping position and the switch by the door is easy to find entering or exiting the tear.

I used snap together low profile conduit and ran the wiring outside of the interior walls

On the inside I make 3/4" wide and 1/4" deep dadoes for the two wire chases to the light switches on each wall. I cover it up with 1/8" hardwood plywood skins. I run my wires along the ceiling and cover them with removable custom molding that is hollowed out to accommodate the wires. I use 3/4" hardwood lumber for light switches hollowed out on the back side for the mass of wires. :D Danny

You can use wiremold type stuff like Starleens did or cover with molding. For the lights make boxes if needed.

I wish I had made this one to fit the corner at the ceiling. It would be better.
