clear doors

Postby Mike M. » Tue Feb 03, 2009 9:40 am

Hmm, I've searched forever and I can't find my answer anywhere. I want big window doors, as close as I can get to total size of the opening as possible.. Maybe 2 pieces of lexan sandwiched together, but I would like a screened window in it as well. do I need to build em, or can I buy em??

Also a nice door to make is the one that is owned by Zyamfier on his tear.

Look here. Also in the hall of fame. Just a beauty of a tear.

I bought a pair of large windows on ebay for $35 each...they are HEHR and then I set them into a wood frame....it's almost like a complete "window/door". The bottom has a crank out with a screen.

Yup ...

Image

... radius-corner baggage-door frame, 1/8" Lexan® "core" held in the frame by shower-door welting, 14x21 radius-corner slider window cut in & mounted in the lower half, chrome paddle-type hinges from Featherlite, locking storm door latch & handle. My cost (in 1996): over $300.00! Warning! If you want a door like this to live a long life, treat it with some respect and be gentle with it ... don't go slamming it around and expect it to hold up for very long. This one is still on the road and functioning O.K., even though suffering from some abuse.

Good Luck, and ...
