Dean, I do all my pages on line and off the top of my head. For the most part, I've created my own templates. I've got an account over in geocities that I do a lot of testing of ideas. Doing it the way I do it might not be the best way but it keeps me up with HTML. Hey, it took me about 3 days to do my first page with some help. I also took an online course in HTML (which help'd). So hang in there, you'll make it. Just remember 'Teardrop Time' , not to be in a hurry.

P.S. You have a PM coming as soon as I post this.

Allen,
It was all geek to me too.
Now that I've had a few minutes to regain my composure, I think it would be a great disservice to bg if I deleted this thread.
This thread illustrates very well what transpires here on this forum; people helping people.
This has been a two day long battle for me to get that simple little webpage up and running and there is no way that this start to a website would be where it is without help from others...
Thanks Again bg and Thank You to everyone eles who offered help and encouragement.
The computer won yesterday, but not today.

Tom,
I just discovered your earlier post on this thread...
Hearing an expert advise me of dumping Frontpage is a relief and good news.
I sat at the computer all day yesterday fighting that damned program... I swear that program was written by a disgruntled employee at Microsoft.
Code really scares me, I've stayed away from it for many years now.
Back in the good 'ol days when Commadore 64 was the latest and greatest thing going, I wrote an estimating program for a glass shop I was working for.
I got so immersed in code that it started to overtake my normal thought proccess... I started thinking normal thoughts in code and that was scary.
I'm going to do just as you advised and dump FrontPage...

One of the great things about this forum is the help that people gladly give freely. I have known of parts given and even purchases for a total stranger and help with gas or campsite fees. And once in the campground most anything anyone needed whether it be coffe, food, duct tape tarp or whatever was available. This is a great group. Pat on the back to everyone.

Hi Dean,

My very first computer was a Commadore VIC-20. I got it when I was a newly wed and still in the Army. We were poor as church mice. After a while I finally got a cassete tape drive so I could save my programs and not have to type them in each time I wanted to run them. My, my how far we've come.

HTML is a text formatting language. It's not at all like the BASIC programming you did in the past. You won't get caught up in conditional loops, declaring variables, arrays and that sort of thing. It's really very simple and intuitive.

bg,
I'm kinda walking in the dark here figuring out how to do things as I go...
For some reason all my png files aren't keeping the transparent areas when I publish them. The transparent area of the image becomes white.
They look fine in the NVU program, but not after they are published to the internet.
Should I try these as gif files instead?
