Supersized grate...now with waffle!

In an attempt to make my single burner 500 "waffle ready" I welded up a grate today. It's removable but since the original grate is tweaked a bit and welding pulled the small rod, the 2 aren't as compatible as they could be. I will need to install 2 small bolts with fender washers to sandwich the 2 together. Not fine tuned yet. I have a tall based waffle iron. It also accepts a 12 inch skillet. Not as nice as one person who favors blue equipment is building however. Doug

Very cool. It looks like we will be cooking waffles at the Dam Gathering on our 500 stoves. I am hoping to have my new grate done this week.

I cooked the first waffle on the grate and stove this AM. It really throws up a narrow column of heat...I'm finding it takes lots of turning to not burn the centers. All were edible so no waffles died an unnecessary death. At any rate....it works. Doug

Looks good to me!!!! Wonder if the stainless Jeremy plate would diffuse that a bit??? I want one!!!

Well here is the results!!!



I found that my wifes vintage ladle is the perfect size for my waffle iron. One scoop, one waffle. I may just need to find one to pint blue for the trailer...

Those waffles look really good...And I jest ate......

Seems like you both have the same problem... the center seems hotter. Any ideas on how to fix that? Perhaps a solid disk in the center to force the heat around it???
