Beautiful.

Now all you need are two woodie wagons to pull them to the lake!

As this is an off-topic thread, I can ask you Gage: do you know why there is that transverse step in the foredeck of your Glasspar? It looks out of place with the otherwise 'streamlined' styling - it is certainly a very pretty boat. I have wondered if it is meant to be a sort of breakwater (is that 'cutwater' in the US?), but I can't see what it would be keepng water away from.

The raised deck edge above the rubbing strake must be pretty nearly the first time this was ever done on a 'glass boat - and now it is almost universal in every powerboat.

Gage...I'm ok with vintage plastic, in fact I've got my eyes on a late 50's BellBoy (I think that is the age) up near me...really a cream puff but the guy won't call me and I never run into him..Old vintage glass boats are going to be one of the hot items here in the near future...I think it is just starting to really take off....What really gets to me are the guys with the brand new go fast inboards with the rack full of Wake boards and the obnoxious stereo that they have to blast all across the lake..Doug

Lee, unfortunately it doesnt,, I did a search on Fabuglass a while back and there was one boat that came up that was very similar, it had a windshield, and mind does not,,The bow gives away her age more than anything, its more rounded rather than coming back and down,, the boat is white with black accent on the front,

I wish it did have the fins,, I might be a bit more interested in restoration

Hey!! I got 2 woodies!!

Postby Grandadeo » Wed Aug 10, 2005 8:42 am

Where do I start?

Doug - Love your boat, and of course your tear. I was reviewing a few forum members' build sites last night and I hope I have it in me to do all the wood working that it will take to build a quality tear. And you built a terrific looking boat to boot. Metal work doesn't bother me but I stink at wood working. As for tow vehicles, If you don't have a woodie an older wagon like the one Gage has would be cool and practical for pulling either one of your creations. But that would probably mean another project keeping you away from your wood working. Wanted to mention how much I enjoyed the Red Wood outing pictures. That has definitely been added to my list of things to do/places to go.

Gage - First of all, thanks for letting Norm and I visit you and pick your brain about teardrops back in June. Really enjoyed it. After we left you we went to the Bob's Big Boy cruise night in Burbank. Got back to Norm's around midnight and were up at 4:00 AM to make it down to the Donut Derelicks in Huntington Beach by 6:00 AM. Can't get enough of that SoCal hot rod stuff. Thanks again. And that glass boat with fins is the one I'm holding out for, but I've avoided owning a boat for 58 years. I guess there's no point in starting now.

Chip - I guess it's a good thing your boat doesn't have fins. My wife has warmed up to the teardrop construction plan on top of all the other projects that follow me home. I think a boat project would put her over the top. BTW, was hoping to join you Southeast Guys for the October Brevard meet but found out a close friend's daughter is getting married that weekend so looks like I'll be staying close to home. Might try to sneak up to Helen but not sure at this point.
