Tea is served

Now its well known that us Brits are a nation of tea drinkers, but its not widly known that when we are working on cars, projects, bikes and other outdoor related topics-the peson who makes a cup of tea is the most important in the team!!!!

So for the benifit of my American bretherin....i thought id show you how to do a proper brew/cuppa!!!!

Image
This is a kettle, essential for making of hot beverages
Image
You select your favorite cup/mug..essential to the perfect taste
Image
Add 1 selected brand tea bag
Image
Add suger
Image
Milk....green top is semi-skimmed
Image
The kettle will have boiled by now,add boiling water to the tea/sugar mix...
Image
And fill to desired level
Image
And add milk, just enough to turn the liquid a golden brown colour
Image
Stir and squeeze tea bag to get the maximum flavour
Image
Disguard tea bag..in a bin or other recepticle
Image
This is what you have at the end of the process
Image
All thats left to do.....is drink and enjoy!!!!

We do like our tea,its a civilised beverage....and not just to be had at 4pm in the afternoon

My thanks to my friend Wayne for demonstrating how to do this simple but tasty drink

I hope this clarifys the UK's national pastime

 :? You used a bag! OMG, the Queen's guard will be knockin down your door any minute.

Grew up on milk in tea. Can't stand "sweet" tea. One teaspoon per 16 ounces is more than enough. Southern sweet tea starts with a cup of sugar to a gallon of tea. :? :? :?

The right way:
put in a spoon or more of tea leaves into a proper tea pot
pour on hot water (not boiling)
let it steep for a few minutes
strain if you can't stand the leaves. 8)

Put a sugar cube in the cup (gold rimmed one)
and pour on the tea. Sip please  No slurping. ;)

Just teasin you English

My wife has informed me that our after dinner Coffee is out for her now. Says it keeps her up to late.

Since I don't want to give up my after dinner cup, and don't want to make a lot of coffee for just one cup (my favorite cup is a 12 ouncer) just to toss the excess out. I have taken to drinking Tea after dinner.

First as a convenience, but now I really enjoy it.

But I like it strong...I'm a "2 bagger"

Happy Trails

I almost always have milk or even nicer is half n half in my tea. I don't usually add any sweetener though.
A tea that I discovered when my daughter bought me a sample for Christmas, is chocolate tea by Harney & Sons. The chocolate tea I like the best is a chocolate hazelnut tea called Florence. This tea does need some sweetening. It took me a long time before I tried the sample because I thought it sounded so strange, but I loved it with milk & sugar.

You missed out about warming the pot first - essential.

And if you think that's bad, when I went to work in an Indian shipyard, I found they used instant tea in the office. The Shock! The Shame! They invented tea, right, so you'd think they'd take it seriously.

Where are the crumpets?
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and will preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Dunkin Donuts Coffee in one hand, Duffy roll in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO, WHAT A RIDE!"

Sounds like a donut to me.
http://www.greatpartyrecipes.com/crumpetrecipe.html

Crumpets Recipe

1/2 cup warm water (105° - 115°)
2 teaspoons sugar or honey
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour or bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups milk

# In a large bowl, stir the sugar or honey into the warm water. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the top and let it sit until it bubbles, about 5 minutes.

# Stir in the remaining ingredients. Cover and let it sit for about half an hour in a warm place.

# Grease a griddle or frying pan and the crumpet rings or cookie cutters. Place the rings on the cooking surface and preheat all.

# Pour about 3 tablespoons of batter into each 3" ring and cook over medium low heat until set, about 10 minutes. (Avoid cooking them too quickly.) The top should be full of holes when they are ready to turn.

# Remove the crumpets from the rings, turn, and brown the other side, if desired, for a minute or so.

# Repeat until all the batter is used.

# Serve warm with butter and jam or clotted cream and jam. Makes 16 crumpets.
