Unique idea I had

I wonder if it would be possible to build a tear, where one side would be hinged at the top, and would be able to swing up, then have 2 legs to prop it up, and maybe a screen or canvas wall to go around, making in effect, another room. Perhaps using a Rimple or Simple profile

I realize the wall would have to be framed quite differently but... well, anyone ever thought of it???

Nope, but I see where you are coming from. That might be a bigger pain than it's worth. I think it would be easier to make an awning that attaches to the side. Wow, now that I build that side idea up in my mind, it would really be a big pain to make!! Another drawback would be keeping warm in the fall or spring weather.

Dear MArck,

The most dangerous thing you can do in teardrop land is call one of your own ideas "unique". Unique is a phrase someone else calls your ideas. If you term your own idea unique someone is bound to post a picture or thread from sometime in the 1900's which strongly resembles your idea.

Also you have to be careful what you call a teardrop. Many traditionalists might raise an issue. A teardrop is a teardrop and others are tiny trailers.

We always just use the easy up on the side with screen sides for summer and solid sides for winter. Its easy and only takes a few minutes. I mounted two hooks on the outer hinge screws and hook a small tarp to them. Two pvc poles and two tie downs and I have a cover over galley area and picnic table if needed.

I considered having doors that swing up and create a changing room, but when I got down to trying to put the design to paper I realized there was a height issue. At 6'0" tall, I couldn't get the door out of the way without some very complicated and problematic engineering.

If you come up with some inspired solutions , let me know.

okay, why I'm putting in my idea, I don't know....
I'm not a carpenter or master builder (yet!)

But when you say "pull up" I'm thinking if it would work maybe have the side swing open, like maybe not the whole side of the tear, but from the front to where the galley starts? Then that would be one "wall" and you would have to support it.... hmmm....

No CAD user here so I can't give ya a picture.
