Does anyone here fly rc heli's? Got any recommendations and or tips?

There are some small ones you can fly in your living room.... twin counter-rotating main blades... easy to fly, almost unbreakable, under !00 dollars... visit a hobby shop in your area to check them out, or look on the internet at places like tower hobbies, hobby lobby, etc.

bigger ones are harder to fly, very expensive, and break easier. and can hurt you more... people have been killed by larger models.....

I dabble, I just bought a Blade MCX bind-n-fly last month. It is super stable, almost to the point of not being much fun. I have a Sabre which is junk but it teaches the basics. I also have a Heli-Max 450 that I never finished putting together, maybe I'll work on it during the Summer. I have a Spektrum DX7 which I bound to the MCX also.

I did a lot of research when I got my heli. I'd probably reccomend the same or similar setup. A Spektrum radio with 400 sized electric heli. A T-rex is a good choice because you can find parts anywhere. Spektrum radios are probably the future of RC, no frequency pins or worrying about shooting someone down, the price on them has really come down too

One of our members Steve H is heavy into it, he sold his tear so he doesn't visit here much. He is a mod at the heli site www.runryder.com he'd probably be the one to give you better advice

From what I've seen teardropping is a much less expensive hobby. But RC Heli sure looks fun until just after the thing goes into the ground...you know... as you add up the repair costs in your head. Ouch!

Really, I'm just mad that I'm not coordinated enough to fly one.

2 channel helis are no good in the wind. go with a 3 or 4 channel

I've got an E-Flite Blade CX2....supposed to be for a beginner, a Christmas present....I've been practicing on hovering, but don't have a good place to operate it. Good thing I can buy extra blades for it...I use them up. Does blow dust bunnies around the kitchen pretty good though! Doug

I got a Blade something used in a trade i made with a guy. I flew it for about 18 seconds before i snapped the tail boom and it has been sitting for about 4 months I need to get it back together sometime soon

My son and I both bought Blade mCX's a few weeks ago. Comes ready to fly an they fly great for a beginner heli. I have had to buy a couple of "extra" part that broke during flight but they were only around $6.00 each time. THey are small enough to fly around any room in the house. Just don't take them outside. The wind or light breeze will take them away fast and far! This is experience talking! Just but an extra battery pack or two and you can fly while you charge.
