Mark...I used Rustoleum dk bronze hammer finish on the tank. The white gas isn't that hot that it will mess up the paint when it's all cured. I've used HDepot rattle cans on other projects, but on this one, I had a spray can mixed up at the auto paint shop to closely resemble the original paint, the before pic has nearly 70 years of oxidation and age on it. I was trying to get it the color of the center on the decal. It's single stage acrylic enamel.

Actually it's a little too apple green for me when you see it in real life, but I can always respray it, an easy job if I stick with a green. I've only found the 1 guy that reproduces this decal. It's a water slide decal. There are a number of sources for the typical red/white Coleman stickers however. Doug

It's the buying the parts and paint that's holding me up. :lol:

So what should I do with all those 200A's you sent me?
I'll be back on this evening, gotta get back out into the shop... Working on the bulhead cabinets.
Just moved everything inside, felt a few raindrops... We're supposed to get 3-5 inches tonight. :shock:

Great job Doug. These old stoves are alot of work compared to a lantern,
but how rewarding when your done. When I did my 413D stove I didn't
think I was ever going to finish. I'm redoing my first lantern, a 228E.
Sanding and painting a font is a piece of cake compared to a stove case.

I believe it is just surface rust. Check out my Flicker page and let me know if you need more information.

Doug... Did you sand ALL the paint off, or just sanded the rusty parts, or did you use a stripper on it. When I did my lantern, I used a stripper. A little messy, but all the old paint came off. Just wondering if sanding is easier..... :thinking:
