Yeh its been an eye opener, thats for certain.
I have some friends here that hail from scotland. (as does my father) and they have recieved lots of phone calls from UK as our city Colac got a mention as we had a smaller fire near here of 1300 hectares, nothing like the big ones though.

I would think that everyone involved would love to thank everyone for their support, from near and far.

EDIT
Here is a good one for Aussie fighting spirit.
I am a mountainbiker, we were to have a race at Eildon this Sunday, but as it is half an hour from Marysville, one of the towns destroyed it has been moved to a place just outside of Melbourne and all the entry fees will go to the bushfire fund.
I have just been going through my emails, and there is a request from someone who has a friend that lost their house and possessions including their mountain bike and equipment. He is looking for to borrow a bike and some equipment so he can still compete in this bushfire fund race..hardcore

Glider , you have raised a very important point, ..."beer capacity".
in Australia one of the forms beer comes in is a "stubby" which is a bottle that contains 375mm then there is the "tinny" or "can" these contain 375ml of the nector. These in turn come in a "six pack", which in turn is packed onto a cardboard tray with three other six packs, vacumn sealed to produce a "slab", this slab contains 24 cans. "Tinnies" are the prefered option for camping as they can be stacked flat and then the cans can be crushed making it easier to take our rubbish home with us.

Remember people leave nothing but footprints behind.

To that end I have established that based on a slab measuring in millimetres 385x250X130 I can fit 73 unopened slabs (1752 cans) into my kitchen area (not fitted out). I think that will get me through the weekend. Give me another day and i will work out how many loose cans and then I might start a thread on that, stay tuned.

Hey there magilla,Don't forget you will have to balance out all that wieght. I would start with 1 smallish side of beef and a whole lamb at the opposite end. should be enough ballast and nothing to take home. Therebye saving weight thus fuel and the planet on the return journey :applause:

yup thats an esky, on top of that is a bottle jack to stop my picnic table from sagging under the pressure of the wedges and timber holding the ply in place while the sikaflex bonds it to the steel frame. Trying not to use screws.
