I am very impressed with the ladies here who have built from the ground up. We are all friends in the end...doesnt matter how you got your teardrop. We love camping and you will see there are other activites as well. You dont need to wait to post again. Keep in touch :D

Double ditto! I wish I had bought one fast and had some camping fun. Even if building was fun. 8)

I am such a dog! I forgot to measure the canopy when I went camping for the Sweetheart gathering, but.....it is very tall! There are 3 holes on the legs to extend it up and we used the lowest one so it can go up high, high, high. In fact, someone said it was as big as a circus tent. So, if you are in need of a good sized canopy, get the 14x14. I just love it!

Mandy and everyone,
Thanks for the good thoughts. I found out that the surgeon doesn't have any openings until mid April, so my surgery is set for April 17th. As long as it isn't urgent I'm happy. The best part is that I get to go get my new TD and take it camping before I go under the knife. Since I always take my vacation around Memorial Day I went ahead and took time off until June 2nd. I have committed to a gathering here in NC - "SPRING FLING AT THA HOLLER *2009*" May 15 – 17, 2009 Raccoon Holler Campground in Glendale Springs, NC and my annual camp out the Memorial Day weekend, all in the time I will take off for recovery from surgery . Then I committed to a July 4th gathering in Florida with several folks on the forum including Becca. What made me think that driving to Fl and camping in July in Florida was a good idea????? I look forward to making many new friends and seeing Steve's new caravan.

Lisa, yes, it will be hotter than the handle to hell's door in July but it will be fun! And, if you play your cards right, we will pamper you since you are having surgery. I will put you in my prayers for a safe surgery, with no complications and a full "C"-free recovery. We will celebrate when I see you in July.

Gaelen wrote:Hey, ladies--I know I haven't been around much. I've accepted another app admin forum management job (a bunch of writers who tend to eat their young if left unsupervised =sigh=) and regular work has been just non-stop.

BUT (I couldn't think of a better place to post this...) last week, I had my routine oncology follow-ups, and I'm now officially IN REMISSION!
I also had a wonderful six days in NYC for Westminster (the dog show), where I picked up a couple of writing assignments for things that will actually be fun to write about--and then got to go to Orlando FL knowing that I was in remission, and spend my first-ever Florida vacation in 70-80 degree weather, go to SeaWorld, photograph baby blue herons, and just generally relax and recharge.

Of course, we've got a new foot of snow here in CNY today, and it's way too cold to work on the SunSpot's vent/fan repair...but I can make camping plans for this summer. I'm going to start with the Tear Up in the Adirondacks, and do at least one vintage trailer rally in between showing Madison this summer...and the world's in a right place. Glad to be back, and to have a few spare minutes to actually post something--I've really missed this place!

Gaelen,
What great news!! You've been through hell fighting this but you are winning! So glad to hear this...so very glad. :applause:

Ladies,
I'm sitting in a motel in New Philadelphia, OH. I picked up my Silver Shadow today at Little Guy in N. Canton, OH. :applause: We left Durham, NC this morning at 4am and drove straight through. She's a beauty and I can't wait to get her home and fill her up. I am also freezing my but off up here and need to go south.
We are heading back at 6am tomorrow and I'll check in when I get her home. I am very tired but very happy...

:woohoo: :P  Watch the weather and I can agree with you on the cold. Takes years to acclimate to it. I shook every winter for years.

Enjoy and be sure to get some :pictures: :pictures: :pictures:

Honey I'm Home!!!!
Ok, the ride home was rough. Very cold in OH this am, bad wreck on 77 just after the 70/77 split. If anyone can tell me what happened (pm me) It didn't look like anyone survived and was very scary. Then there was the snow, sleet, rain, and freezing rain. Finally made it back to my apartment and the bottom fell out. Got her backed in, unhooked and unloaded. We got drenched, but it feels good to be home.
A friend was petsitting and of course she wanted to see the new baby, so she brought Princess to me and we went out to take a look. The locks on the galley are frozen......... This morning the locks on one side door was frozen. I will not be camping in below freezing temps. Now I find out that we are expecting 3 to 5 inches of snow......
I was planning to play in the galley, make the bed and stuff tomorrow. ARRGGGGG :fb: On the bright side half of the time they predict snow here in the lovely state of NC nothing happens. On the other hand sometimes we get lots more than predicted. I'll keep you posted.

Glad you made it home safe. You can use your hairdryer to get those locks unfrozen. I threw away a can of stuff you spray to unfreeze a lock just last night. When we lived in Idaho, we used it often...I don't see us ever needing it again in Florida.

When the weather is right, please take some pictures so we can ooou and ahhhh over your new baby. Congratulations Lisa! :applause:

Becca, We took several photos in OH in front of the motel and when Sarah brought Princess home we took another. Unfortunately they were all taken by other folks cameras. I need a new camera!!!!! As soon as I can I will upload these to my album. My only regret for this trip is that I didn't think to get a picture with Joe from Little Guy. He was so great, actually everyone there has been awesome......

OK. I have my trailer hitch and basic wiring installed as of tonight. I also posted the pics from that frosty morn in Ohio. Check them out (don't I look like Vanna?". If anyone knows how to wire my car to charge the battery I'd love to hear about it. My buddy wasn't sure how to do that (we did the rest of the wiring so I can tow, but not charge. I posted a question yesterday and was ridiculed so I hesitate to post this question on the open market. :D

Pooy on the jokesters! Don't let them get to you. Hopefully it was just a crude atempt to be funny and not truely mean, Good luck, I'm not the person to ask -- I just need a long extension cord.

 8) I am off to find the jokester. I will also try to remember to do a search. Seems like Steve Trip has a sticky on that in Electrical. Lisa if they give you too much stuff just let an admin. know. There really isn't any reason for that. Oh and feel free to let them know how much you appreciate getting the biz. ;)

I am really glad you are now able to enjoy your TD.
:woohoo: Vanna, you look cold. :)

I did and he apologized, but I started the post "don't laugh but I don't know what this means". I also received some useful comments for which I also expressed thanks.
Thanks for the support.

On another note, now that I have all the pieces in place and can tow my baby, it's turning cold and wet here. Suppose to rain till Tues. Dang it.
