roswell build

Postby dandan » Sat Feb 28, 2009 3:37 pm

yep,
your not far off the mark guys !

embarking on a week of night shift this sunday.
comes round every 28 weeks for me.
that works out at atound 50 hours booked & 20 hours overtime.
:money:
hope to get on the build an hour here & there during the morning after work.
still got the lower part of the joints to tack together.
will pick it up with the crane to do that.
tried it the other day. looks quite strange just hanging there.
ordering some more ali monday for collection fri.
need another 7 sheets 2x1M for the front, door & fenders & a harder
grade of 2.5x1.25M (about 8x4 Ft) for the floor.
then get the 2 front panels made, tacked on & think about the chassis.
wont weld the joints till its mounted on the box section.
now theres some time to be spent on that alone!

More piccies on their way.
:snappy:
still lots to do !

best rgds dan.

4 hours worth today.

the rear 2 panels with the non-door side.

looking from the front with both sides on. (im standing on some steps)

looking from the top.

& from the back with the roof on.

made the roof is 5mm short for some reason. (opps)
can get around it by adding the difference to the top of the front panels when they are made.

best rgds dan.

Wow its looking great :applause: :applause: :applause: I am going to have one for you  or 2  keep the pics coming

oh, forgot to mention,
have ordered a small sticker off ebay.
Image
sorry about the poor scan quality.

anyway, im fully aware of the American theme to this trailer but
thinking of putting one of these on it by the door.
it's only 3" tall & quite descrete.
more a reflection on the country where it will be used, than its concept origins.
enspired by Sir Richard's fleet of 747's.

You'r views & comments are welcome & will aid my final decision.

 Is this one of those "here hold my beer" moments. I say go for it and have a buddy hold a video camera

Seriously you build it you decorate it. Looks harmless enough.

Thanks for your support Guys.

just been & collected the aluminium needed for the door & front body panels.
3 sheets of 2mX1m, 1.5mm came to £81 including vat.
total cost of aluminium alone is £269 so far.
still need £150 worth to do the floor & fenders.
will purchace that when needed. $>
no point having material hanging around till then.

have a feeling its going to take some time to get the door spot on.
no point in skimping on it now eh ???
itching to get back to work on it.

There's outside the box and then there's the compound angle quasi spheroid. Only a boat or ship builder or an aircraft fabricator would attempt such a thing. Let me state my admiration succinctly: You Rock!

Prem :)

been told you all like lots of piccies, so here we go again !

had to move things around a bit.
the crane is worth its weight in gold.
Image

decided to give it some eyes.
all guess work here.
kept the rads large so the window rubbers have a good chance.
Image

more heave-ho.
Image

tacking the panels together.
this looks a bit sinister to me !
Image

lets put it on.
Image

Image

hope to get a couple more hours on it tomorrow.
will post more piccies soon.
