I have a spare tire that swings out and makes a table also. I really like it.

I really like the looks of that. And thats what I also have in mind however I have the full hatch so I dont know if it can be achieved? Unless a stainless pipe comes out from the frame and then angles up? :designing:

I will try to get some close up photos this weekend and post them. I will be taking it to ITG 3 so you can see it in person if you are there.

I used a Toyota Truck spare tire crank. Mounted it just like it was on the truck under the back of the frame. I will tow my TD with a Toy and the crank in the truck is the same one used for the trailer. The crank lowers the tire with a chain. I welded a link on a star bar and use a lock to lock the tire and star bar togeather so the tire can't be stolen.... hopefully. Here in LV some folks just take stuff. Happy Trails

We finally got some close up pictures uploaded to my album. If you have any questions, ask away. (But I will have to ask KP as I am very mechanically challanged!

) He also built a platform to carry my ice chest on the front of my teardrop, it sits over the A/C.
Here are a couple of them. This is the outside view of the bracket that holds the tire.

Here is a view of the inside.

Here is the ice chest holder.

I really like that set up.
I think I,ll get our neighbor to do some stainless pipe bending and welding since Im not a welder and I dont have a bender for it.

It looks like real clean styled setup. No too heavy either.

So that pin or bolt slides out and you turn it to set it as the table then?

How is it installed to the frame?

In the first photo it looks like it locks into position? Or how is that?

I know I know Im curious and full of questions. :lol:

But that is nice.

Classic Finn, I posted more pictures in my album. They show how it is mounted on the frame and secured in place. If you need me to I can try to get some more pictures.
All I have to do is pull a pin, swing tire out, pull another pin, lay tire flat, and I have a table. When it is returned upright it is secured with the second pin, then it swings back into place and is secured into the hole with the first pin inserted to secure it in place. Does that make any sense? It is very easy to use. Now I just have to make a table cloth for it.

Little Guy uses a spare tire mount that bolts onto the trailer tongue. This is a photo. I really admire the swing-out and hidden spare tire mounts.

If there is room on the tongue this seems a pretty good & easy option. A brief search on the web did not turn up one just like mine but etrailer.com has several different models.
