I am considering using tarp in my construction project. The kind of all purpose tarp you buy at home depot. It is made of Polyethylene. In the sticky "glue this to that" it recommends a 3M glut for plastic but says that with so many different kinds of plastic it is hard to be sure what will work best. So my question is, what type of glue is best for gluing this type of tarp to itself and also glueing in a type of screen mesh for windows.

plastic really don't want to be glued. A super-strength contact cement MIGHT work, or you could just have it stitched together with an industrial strength sewing machine and then slip it onto the whatever-it-is you have in mind.

wellll, my partner built a pretty elaborate awning setup to go with his motorcycle camper out of sliver tarp, he used regular WeldWood contact cement...the kind you can't buy in California any longer...on problem he had was after a year of use, the tarps had shrunk somewhat and would no longer fit his pole arrangement with out stretching and thus tearing...what exactly are you wanting to do with the tarps????????

I want to build a 1 person tent on top of my 1969 vw bug. It will be a fold out type of set up so I can travel with it to my favorite camp spots. I have seen roof top tents on the market but They are really expensive and I just need shelter from any rain and/or mosquitoes I might encounter. :rainy: I am only in the research stages right now. I was considering using a HF 4'x4' trailer and doing a fold out with it but I have very limited space left in the drive way, so compact is the ticket right know. I can't wait till I buy a house with a yard. I have the TD bug but it is hibernating til then.
