I need a new camera!!!!! As soon as I can I will upload these to my album. My only regret for this trip is that I didn't think to get a picture with Joe from Little Guy. He was so great, actually everyone there has been awesome......

She's beautiful! And I love the tires. Oooh, I am excited for you Lisa. The fun has just begun. You better get a second job cause you will be buying so many things these guys and gals post on this forum that you'll wear the numbers off your ATM card. I finally told myself, "Just Say No!". :D (Myself doesn't always listen)

Lisa, did you read my message regarding your campsite at Hillsborough River? Check that thread.

Congrats,

I bought my Silver Shadow from the same dealership three years ago. Great people, great product! I am still enjoying the tear as you will too. Maybe see you in the woods sometime.

    Nope Mary K has the paddle. I will sic her on them. :D I did go make sure we didn't have someone being really bad. Just the guys  I am still trying to find time to look for the charging the battery through the car. Problem is I think I remember some vehicles needing something extra... Don't want to give advice that will hurt a car.

You girls just be patient---next month will be better for camping. :worship: :worship: :worship:

Lisa:

There are several options to find out about how to add the wire to charge the battery on your Silver Shadow. I have a Subaru Forester that came with a 4 way flat wiring harness and I had to buy the adapter to make it a 7 round to fit my Silver Shadow. I am now researching how to add the wire to charge the trailer battery.

Right now, I have posted a question on the Subaru Forester owners forum to see if someone will respond. I think that will be one of my best chances for a good answer. I am also going to check with U-Haul to see if they know what to do, and eventually I might check with the Subaru dealer. The dealer will be last because sometimes they don't like to help you add stuff that isn't OEM and they could say it would void my warranty if anything went wrong.

I'll let you know if I find out anything that might be helpful.

I did, but I haven't had a chance to call. After going to get my baby, she is tiny and with the dog that tree may come in handy. Not excited about no shade, but I have a 12x12 easy(we'll see) up. If it doesn't cost anything to change and they still have it I probably will switch, but thanks for looking out for me.

Thanks again for the support guys. I can't wait to meet some of you. My friend says he can connect to the battery, but he's not sure how to connect it so that it only charges when the car is running, and not all the time. We are resourceful women and I'm sure we can figure it out.

Lisa:

It will need a battery isolator diode to prevent it from draining your car battery. Not sure what kind, but maybe your friend knows.

There are other threads out there too.

It would be nice if we could get a picture book install thread. Hint Hint. :worship:

And another option I found while searching the forum is this:

http://www.lslproducts.com/TC_Broch.pdf

This looks relatively easy and inexpensive. Just hook it up to your car battery, run the provided wiring under the car and mount near your 7 round. Hook up the other end to the trailer battery and connect the two together. Unplug it when you are not towing.

Your car/suv is the motorhome and the towed vehicle is the trailer for what we want.

Ouch. A little steep for what you are getting there. That thing is just a bit exaggerated. You've got nearly 60' of 12 gage wire they claim to get 10 amps thru, I doubt that's gonna happen without a fire.
You really should have 10 gage from the battery to the plug on the car and you could go 12gage, (10 would be better) from the plug to the trailer battery.
Unless you frequently camp with the trailer attached to the car you really don't have to worry about all the relay stuff, just unplug the trailer in camp and you won't be drawing off of the tow battery, start the car before plugging in and it'll start charging as you drive. All you really need to do is change to the 7 way RV plug on the car and trailer (or you can get a single pole plug and run it separate), pick up a couple of those breakers they show (one for each end, pretty cheap), run your wire front to back and back to front, hook up and you're done. This seems to get way too complicated and it's not necessary. People have been dragging travel trailers with a simple wire to the tow battery charging them for years with very few problems and a lot less ambitious alternators than we have now. Keep it simple, get it done, don't make it harder than it is!!!
