73 HI LO Remodel

Postby greg755 » Sun Mar 15, 2009 1:23 pm

Started ripping apart the Hi Lo today.

This will be new and different, I am starting with the top section.

It is a metal frame so a little different than what I did before.

The Neighbors are THRILLED, that I started this in the front yard :)

Actually it was the only level place I had to raise it until I take it to the shop next week.

Lots of water damage to the top, Completely ruined the cabinets and the side walls, but the good thing is the bottom half is rock solid.

You can see some photos here:

Greg,
Are you going to rebuild it as it was or are you just salvaging the frame for another build? You're going to have a pretty nice collection of classic campers, that's for sure.

Like the 56 it will look original on the out side but the inside will be up dated

Only got a couple of hours on it today...

Finished ripping out all of the inside stuff (top section) Lots of rotted wood around the vents and where they put small blocks to screw the lights in. Found two dead mice. removed all the rotted mouse eaten insulation as well.

Some time this weekend I will take more pictures and post them once I get all the outside lights, windows, trim and skin off.

When I redo this I am going to leave the bottom half basically original maybe add a second battery. I am also going to redo the bathroom walls (canvass that snaps in place with a door that zips up) I don't like the half door it has now with the shower curtain.

The top portion will have the original skin on the out side but inside it will have all new paneling, cabinets, 110 and 12 volt wiring, fuse boxes, 7 round plug etc.
