how do I get started?

One of the things that intrigues me about the tear drop is that I don't have to buy a huge truck, or an RV. The thought of my Toyota Camary fitting the bill sounds good to me. I have seen some older used ones for under $2k, but wouldn't know a good deal if it bit me on the nose. I toyed with the idea of building one, but the reality is that that is so far out of my league. I am married and I have a 5 year old and 7 year old that still think that it is cool to hang out with the parents so would a tear drop be prohibitive to this set up? Arghhh!!! So many questions.

Hey, welcome to the club! I, too, live in AZ and have been building a tear. Got bit by the bug last summer. I have been told there are tears for sale in Apache Junction. I went looking but couldn't find them. Anyway, they do show up on Craig's list once in a while. A tear for 4 is a rare thing, though. People have built them, but I haven't seen any for sale. Keep looking, though. If you decide to build, these things can be as simple or as complex as you want to make them. There is a wealth of good info on this site (and a bit not-so-good). Keep reading, keep looking, and your dream tear will find you!

keep me posted on your progress would like to see how you progress. I was talking to a friend of mine today and just by explaining it to him over the phone I think he is hooked. We are going to look at some plans this weekend.

I have been to three Camping World stores recently in three states and they all had 6 or 7 TDs from Little Guy. Go check them out if you have a location nearby. Also have seen them at several locations of a sporting goods chain called Gander Mountain.

to the playground AZ. We have more than a few wider and longer TD's in the Hall of Fame. The other way to do kids is to attach a tent to the TD and leave the door open. A little bit of freedom for the children and a comfy bed for the adults.
