Just don't ride too fast... you might get pulled over by the park police. ;)

Wow, this group is really spread out

I guess the "Tearup Pot Luck" will be in the middle, I hope. :worship:

The cool thing is the size of the group. I can Kayak either way and meet everyone from the water, or ride my bike. (not in the water)

Spring is coming soon. Our school "Spring Break" starts March 20. It should be mostly "downhill" from then.

I'm trying to get another couple from Indiana to join in the fun this year.

They love to Kayak (right place), campout (right place) and love to meet new people (right place). I'll let you know how I make out.

Yup looks like it... those after 246 are separated from the rest by 4 sites.. guess we'll be getting lots of exercise!

We are spanning 47 sites at this point... you'll definately want to bring bikes if you want to see everyone!

Spring fever!

Postby bellatear » Sun Mar 15, 2009 7:42 pm

Looks like the tear up continues to grow every year, we are excited to meet all the new folks ad see old friends. The three of us spent the day cleaning the Rv, drinking some awesome sangira and dreaming about getting out on the road to Fish Creek. With the arrival of spring the time begins to go quickly, we will take our maiden voyage to Cooperstown KOA on April18th, it was one of the first local campgrounds open so they got our business because we just can't wait til May for the season to begin! See you all in June 8)

We just watched an episode on Discovery Channel about bear attacks and th damage they can do.... Now my wife doesn't want to go camping anymore, Trying to convince her there are no bears at FCP. I even told her she's too skinny for a bear to attack her, but she wouldn't buy it.....I might be coming alone......

John- I've been camping in the ADK since I was a kid(campground and backcountry) and although I've seen lots of bears, I've never been threatened by one. They are more wary of you than you are of them. If I was your wife, I would be more worried about the blackflies!

Yeah, I heard that DEC bought some new radar units for the golf carts! ;) The fines they collect will help the budget deficit!

I'm too honest to lie about the bears at Fish Creek. They are there occasionally. See http://fishcreekpond.com/bearsightings.html Image

Here that Rick? Wonder how much they can collect during the TearUp. Not sure if they will tick speeding bicycles.

Bears would be extremely rare. We have never seen or heard of anyone bothered by a bear (or eaten for that matter).

We are now "officially" the campers on site 246 - from Sunday June 7 to Monday June 16. We finally got coordinated with our "proxy" who has had the site for a bunch of months.

We are heading south early next week for some beach time for several weeks. Then, we will again be volunteer campground hosts at the ADK Loj Campground the week before the Tearup followed by a week at 8th Lake CG with the Podesvas after the Tearup.

Looking forward to seeing all the oldies as well as the new Tearupers!

PS- Dave, that probably was us you saw in Lake Placid that Sunday last Sept. We had been camping at Wilmington Notch State CG, and stopped in town on our way to another week of hosting at ADK CG.

Hi neighbor. I assume we will again be the epicenter of blackflies, noseeums, and microbursts?

Or maybe all will focus a few sites away at Podesva's!
