Notching the Spring Bracket Video

Postby Mary K » Thu Mar 13, 2008 10:35 pm

Okay here is the setup, As y'all may know, I build the Generic Benroy step for step........ except for one. I forgot to notch the spring bracket. Needless to say the axle bottoms out on the bracket and goes KBLAM with every bump in the road. I was discussing fixing it on the Killer Thread (Yes, I talk about Td's there, whether they like it or not) and they asked me to shoot video because they wanted to see all the pretty sparks.

More set up...

I have my Teardrop up on stands, the wheels removed and the spring hanging on one side. I am using a side grinder with cutting wheel to cut notches then I break them out for one big notch. I reference a piece of aluminum, that I forgot to get, to keep the sparks off the tar bottom, so I had the fire extinguisher near by just in case.

Make sure you are not drinking anything while you are watching. I will not be held responsible for said drink being shot out of your nose when you laugh at my silly arse. ;)

Okay, bla bla bla... here is the Video.

ps I shot this video with my camera, that's why the graphics are bad. Also I could only shoot 15 second at a time.

Great video, Mary. However I do believe you should have included an instruction to wear prophylactic gloves in addition to those dandy birth control glasses - you know it makes sense..... ;)

For the type of thing you might catch doing that kind of grind you might want some leathers. 8)

I've just about had it with all these new TV Reality shows. It has action, it has drama. But where is the background story? The love interest? The character development? And don't even get me started on the absence of any type of background music. Of course, if there had been a car chase and a steamy love scene, it might have been an Oscar contender.

Will the effects of the writer's strike never leave us?
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

Hey, just some truthfulness would be good. All that showing-off with the fancy fire extinguisher (didn't look nuthin' like a bucket to me....) meant that we didn't get to see the fire that you know would have happened if it wasn't being shot in Mary's fancy outdoor TV studio.

There are two certainties in life (well, two in addition to death and a nurse...):
- sparks from an angle grinder will always find any flammable material in the vicinity; and
- juice from a lemon will always find any eye in the vicinity.
