AW whats a little rot among friends...

If you look at my 73 hi lo and 62 Metzendorf (rebuilds in progress) they look like they will never make it.

Rotten wood, mildew, spiders, dead mice, ALL that makes them look BAD.

But in a few weeks (give or take) they will look like they did when you first asked them out... PURDY........

I look at it this way $500 for an old trailer, $1500 in parts, a hundred seventy five hours later and you got an almost new trailer, upgraded with YOUR choice of options for about 1/2 of what you would pay for a really good used trailer or 1/3 of a new trailer...

Go for it

Len .. I think I saw your rebuild through the Scotty form ... nice !!! I thought that too “Theirs nothing that can't be fixed.”... and since the skin in this one dosent even seem to have any dents in it I think it might be a good project .
Goldcoop , I figured that once the skin was removed that it might b worse and some of the photos on the “Scotty “sites showed how bad it could be and yes I did kinda fall in love with the profile of the thing .... ??? now do I keep my tear .. Or do I sell it ????....
Greg755 THAT’S WHAT I WAS THINKING!!! Really .. I want something a little bigger than the tear for when I take my boys camping and thought this would be perfect , and if I could get the whole project done for under $2500 that would be excellent .

I was surprised to see how much info there is on these little units available , and I hope Ill be able to pick the brains of those of u who have done a restore on an old camper ...

Thanks
Dave

Dave-

That's a question you need to answer...

If money or storage space is an issue...Sell.

If you are truly trailer crazy you'll own at least SEVERAL.:o

Here is where the justifications (AKA sickness) comes in.

" We will just use our tear for short trips for just you and me sweet pee"

" The bigger camper will be great for trips for those longer 3 - 5 day trips and we can eat inside when its raining and you don't have to worry about bugs any more pumpkin"

" Well I got it so you could have your own bathroom and shower my queen"

We made em all up and continue to do so as the next cool trailer crosses our path...

Once you go 2 your sc@*?/

Just my 5 cents.

My gawd greg775 I have classic symptoms of “ Trailernucleosis”…LOL…. Yea had to try to sell her on the” Scotty” idea and she decided that we would compromise and I would to get it …lol … So I decided to agree with her and bought the trailer …LOL. Really though she did remind me that the tear is not done and since I work construction did I really want to take on another project right now and I agree. So I talked to my Buddy with the Scotty and he said that “It here” till I’m ready for it and that he is in no hurry to get rid of it , so it is going to wait till the tear is done or next year , but if any thing changes Ill let all of you know.

We found our Scotty in same conditions as yours. Had good parts to salvage and lots of rot. Took it all apart down to the chasis and rebuilt it useing everything as a template. Was a fun project and no regrets.
Now we have our little Scotty and it's ready to go another 40 years....If have any questions along the way we're happy to try and help out if we can....Happy Building.........Steve & Patty
