Length of tongue

By the standards of this forum, the original tears had super short tongues.

Really. The ones I see now seem to be so long. Maybe it is the type of trailers that are usually used to make them. I need to look at old drawings of original 40's, 50's tears. This might be interesting.

I'm thinking that a small extension of about 8" might do the trick. You can buy them and with the light weight build of the camper the weight should not be a factor.

By the way Mark McD, the spacing looks a lot like the picture you posted of that pop-up. Just enough room to turn the crank for raising and lowering the tongue lift. Just really noticed that. I will try and post some pictures now that I have some answers as to how to shrink the size of my pictures down. When I tried to post some it kept telling me that my pictures were too big. Hopefully I can fix that.

Some pictures might shed some light on this.

Mine is 22" from the tip of the tongue to the front of the trailer.

No issues cornering, takes some patience to back up.

I need to measure mine. I extended the floor out about a foot toward the front and I just really don't have any idea how much room I have. I didn't really think about it until I started looking at some of the longer ones on here and it got me to thinking. (Sometimes thinking gets me in trouble ). I should be able to get out tonight and measure it. It looks like the rain has stopped for the time being. I'll let ya know.

I've been looking at those extensions they make and I think they may be the way to go. Depending on how long extension you go with, they are rated up to over 3000lbs. Not a problem with the teardrop. You can get them for as long as 14". Hopefully I don't need that long.
