I'm new to the scene of TearDrops. I love anything to do with the outdoors... camping, hiking, backpacking... anything...

I'm looking at making or purchasing a TearDrop trailer, but I have no idea where to start. I know I don't want to pay a high price when it seems like you don't get a lot, but I could be wrong.

I'm very new at this, so give me the knowledge you guys pocess... I want to learn.

Hey John,
welcome to the forum. Lots of ideas/help here. I'm now camping in the one that I built. A 4x8 on a tractor supply frame. I have about 1500.00 in the total build. Didn't have any plans but I modify the teardrop to my own (what wood be easier for me to build) design, kinda a benroy style. Check out the FOR SALE section periodically. There are some very good deals that pop up, but you've got to be fast as some go quickly.
Wish I could help you more, but I'm in the very early stages of building my own.

I built my own and believe me when I say you can spend as much or as little as you want. If I had it to do over again Id build again. Make it any shape you like. Check out the Design Library at the top of the page. My brother inlaw and I built mine. Spent alot of time planning before building. I have well over $3000 in mine, thats camping gear, memory foam queen mattress, bedding, ect ect and theres still things Id like to do and get. Oh yea almost forgot, You gotta name your Tear. I named mine "The Sponge". Enough said.

to the playground John. You can buy, which is faster or build which allows lots of control and you can buy as you go. We have free plans at the top of the page that allow for some changes to be made. We also have a for sale section. Look around and think about what you really want. If you can see one in person. It will give you a whole new perspective.

I have just started building my teardrop even though I haven't got very far I can see how rewarding it is going to be when it's done.

Thanks for all the advice...

My current situation is, I have neither the skills or tools to build my own TearDrop...

Also, I would like to have it for the summer.. so I can travel wherever and have a place to sleep...

$5,000 seems kinda of expensive... and what I want is pretty basic. Just a place to sleep, something that doesn't leak when it rains, something I can lock, and something that will last longer than a couple of years. Maybe I'm wrong and $5,000 isn't a lot, but I have to see what I get for that price. I love the idea of a TearDrop though... hopefully I can find something in my price range...

Thanks for everybody's help... I'll keep you posted on what I decide...
