Internet Explorer 8

Postby halfdome, Danny » Thu Apr 02, 2009 11:18 am

Has anyone used Internet Explorer 8 yet? I know there's Mozilla etc out there and Mac's so, please, this isn't about them. I downloaded IE8 the other day and it turned my PC into a slug :SH . It took forever to boot up and web surfing was so slow. I un-installed it and re-installed IE 7 and now everything is back to normal. Has anyone else had good or bad results with IE8? :D Danny

Are you using XP or Vista? Go here for tweaks for either. Scroll to about the end of the article on the first page.

I installed it & it did not last 24 hours on my computer. I am using Google Chrome. I like it better than IE & Modzilla.

I have been using IE8 since it came out in Beta, very nice product and faster out of the box than Firefox. Before all of the boo's start I still use Firefox as my Main browser, but may switch to Google Chrome, leanest, meanest I have seen so far. I am running a Vista Home Premium machine with 3 gb of memory and a 4 gb jump drive in Ready Boost.

Hey George
You sure your computer is turned on. As long as I leave mine turned off, everything works great.

It runs Ok on my lap top but It makes some of the older websites look wonky. At least its not crashing every other page like IE 7.

I installed it yesterday and it works better than 7...

I also ran a cleanup/anti spy/virus and did some other updates...

I used the Yahoo version.

8 sucks just like 5 6 &7 and most other microcrap software. Why use "bloatware" when really outstanding free programs like Firefox and Chrome are out there for the asking. If I didn't need Microcrap broken windows for some of the software I run if would be replaced bu Linux Ubuntu in a heart beat (runs faster on a 7 year old "beater" computer than Windoze on my new one

There is a button up top of the screen on IE 8. It is next to the refresh button. If you click on it it will un-wonky your older web sites.
