I've been looking at this forum for the past few weeks. Getting ideas on what I want to build. Right now the holdup is HF. The trailer I want, the 1175 is on back order. HF in Ft Worth, Tx has it on sale for $229.99 but they gave me a rain check.

In the meantime I'll start ordering the things I need online and the rest of it at Home Depot or Lowe's. Which brings me to my question. I went by HD and they had this Henry asphalt emulsion and another product by Henry called roof coating that had fibers in it. The asphalt emulsion was a little over $5 a gal and the other was a little over $6 a gal. Does any one know what the difference between these two coatings are, other than the price and one having fibers in it. I thought one might work better than the other or could one be easier to apply.

Before I go let me say there are some really great looking TD's in this forum.

Let me be the first to welcome you to the forum. It's great to be getting more Texans on here! Take a look at the thread in the South Central section about the September gathering at Inks Lake State Park....something you might want to participate in to get ideas and meet some of the other teardropers from the area. We'd love to have you there.

About the roofing sealer, I believe I used the type with fibers in it. It's pretty nasty to use (lots of odor) but sets up good in a day or two and will definately seal the bottom of your trailer.

I used the same stuff Steve used, I mean he gave me his leftovers . It works great but I hope you only intend to use it to seal the bottom. Hope you can make it to Inks lake.

smokey bob, welcome to the form. hope to see you at INKS LAKE. steve is right. the fiber tap tar is the best to use. more body to it. use gloves and threw away tools.

This is the stuff I used, It took a while but it did eventually dry.

Welcome aboard, Smokey Bob. I just coated the bottom of my new tear with Henry's 208 roof mastic. It has a high odor, and this morning it was dry to the touch. One note of caution, it is a good idea to paint the raw wood with primer before you apply the black stuff. I do plan on adding another coat of the 208, just to make sure all surfaces are covered.
