Folks,

Leaning heavily towards a weekender/sawtooth/desert dawg combo. Would like to add a port-a-potti but thinking where??? My thoughts are 1) back passenger cabinet (slider with 400#slides and portable curtain) or 2) in a cabinet up front on the A-frame tongue (with portable curtain).

Any suggestions, thoughts, or ideas???

It's been a wonderful holiday but it must be gettin late, because as I scanned your post I got, "Porta potti wanted - back passenger - and slider".... not a post for cliff notes. (Cliff notes didn't work in school either so why now.)

Now actually having read your post, are you set on having/using a porti potti inside such a small area? That's the kind of business I like to keep outside the tear with a pop up shower/porta potti tent. Very quick set up and take down.

Alright, let's see if I can make this clearer

Either the slider (rear panel) slides to the OUTSIDE (at just the right height too!) OR slides onto the A-frame OUTSIDE

K so putting a slider porta potty in the galley is a bad idea. You will loose valuable cooking/prep room. You need a couple of feet for that. Having one slide out of the side is a great idea butt you are still gonna have a tent outside.

You can put it on the tongue....... (potty on the tongue) Well yes, that works if you want to climb through to get to it. Or you are still back to going outside in to a tent. Maybe make a closet on the tongue and hinge the top to make a taller space.

You can use the porta potty in an emergence butt need to ask the partner to leave if you do.

What you can do is make the thing 6 wide, block off 2 ft of the galley and make it open to the inside. Like a closet. You will have more head room when the hatch is open. Just have solid panels or material drop for the top sides. Now the problem you will have is privacy. A td is small and likely to have lots of folks walking around the galley

All in fun cause I would like to see one done where it works.

Most of us have done the where to put the potty thing. A tent works great and if someone could figure how to attach it to the td for convenience I would even think about it too. Maybe make a hole in the porta potty tent so a slider can work.

I have thought about a portable toilet but Patricia just wants to park close to the campground loo. We use a product called Travel John for night time. Works well for male or female.

Can get a little expensive. If one drinks a lot of beverages in the evening it may take two of these to get through the night. But very handy to just pitch in the trash bag. The one in the link may be a newer model. I think the ones we have used were just were just 20 oz. capacity. Now they call that the childrens' version. I might make it through the night with just one of these with the new 28 oz capacity.

But this may be the ultimate answer. Might need a tent of some sort in a campground.

Seriously, I don't think you'd want to put a potty on a slider. I don't know what size or type of potty you're talking about, but my 5+3 gallon model gets HEAVY. I realize that a loaded cooler is heavier, but I guess it depends how far you intend for it to slide out the back. Plus, show me a potty and I'll show you an eventual leak (pun not intended). Do you really want that in your galley area?

I would put the potty in a shower/potty tent. You can get them as cheap as $30 and they make perfect portable outhouses. When I go camping now, the potty goes in my tent, but it's a 12x14 tent with an entire mesh roof. I've been thinking about getting the shower tent myself, because we frequently camp with neighbors or extended family, and (of course) none of them have a potty for the kids in the middle of the night. It would help the whole group for me to put my potty in a shower tent. Of course, I'll have to do that once I build or buy a tear, right?

But I think for the drive I'll stow the potty on the tongue so I can tell everyone that I have potty tongue when I go camping. They'll just think I'm telling R-rated jokes around the campfire....

We made our side tent from a dome tent we used to use. We cut it in half and stitched in a length of awning webbing. It slides into the rail on the td.
It's the perfect place for the porta potty.
The potty is stored in a cupboard in the gally when we've traveling. We always set it up, but don't use it very often.

We need it if we don't have it, but if it's there, we more often then not don't use it.

It has a two big doors, that can be rolled up together to aid ventilation when needed ;
