Granite Ware cooking pots/pans

As a kid we had grandma's old hand me down granite ware for camping..1940's era .I'm wanting to be more vintage so I found a site with a lot of this stuff if anyone is interested...try www.peak62.com check out the enamelware...they have it in forest green, red, and blue...the quality is decent, not like it used to be in the 40's as most of it is made overseas now....It appears that the larger items are made in China and the smaller stuff in Mexico....the speckles are white and are a little larger on the Chinese stuff...but not that big of a deal...I've seen some of it around, very collectable but can get sort of pricy....I got all of this for
125$ the pitcher was the high dollar item.... Doug

That's a nice looking set.

I've still got some mismatched enameled stuff that has been handed down. There's probably more practical cookware and dishes but whenever I make pancakes I grab the enameled mixing bowl to mix it in. I use the same bowl when I have a bowl of home made buttered popcorn. Something about it just makes me feel good. Lots of memories of grandma I guess...

that's why Im doing it George....Now what I really need is a 2 tone Wimbleton White and Red 57 Ford station wagon....and I'm back to 1958..that's what we tent camped in....I've even got the desert water bag....remember them???....not such a bad time for me....Doug

Wow the good old thing's...this place is run by the Amish..the non electric hardware store..lots of enamel/grannyware also...Love cooking & eating off of these types of kitchen ware...

Lee...thanks for the find...I've kind of been blowing it all off what with the price of fuel....but that one looked pretty clean...I just got in contact with a buddy of mine that I worked with in Denver and maybe he can check it out this week...He's a gear head from way back...thanks again...and if I get it....I'll know who to blame...and who to thank....Doug

You are very wise to get some local eyeballs on that '57. Especially if they are in a gearhead's head. I have a '53 Plymouth that I bought off ebay and I'm not sure I would have had I seen it up close. It was not misrepresented or anything and the seller was a super nice guy and was very helpful. But the car was not quite as cherry as it appeared in the pictures and the little mechanical problems it has could not be detected over the internet.

I am so gun shy on something that I'm not laying my hands on....I find things all the time, but don't want to get burned...can't afford it and don't want the hassle of trying to get rid of it if I do get burned...for me it is great to find something that some yahoo hasn't cut up, tried to do his own engine swap on or hacked the dash to put in some crappy stereo that no one wants anyway....my favorite quote is " primed and ready for paint!!!" ....Doug

So you've seen my '48 Ford Panel Truck, hacked up dash and all. That's why it's in the body shop now getting a large amount of bucks thrown at it.

Haven't seen your 48...but I'm a panel truck fan from way back...Had a 51 Chev, with a visor, 235, scrounged a fenton exhaust...nixson (sp?) intake manifold with strombergs...I didn't cut up the dash for the radio...It didn't have one, but I installed a 53 Olds, at least I think that is what it was,tube type, turned it upside down and it fit into the dash...only thing was the numbers on the glass front on the radio were backwards after I swapped it....Metallic tan body with black fenders, running boards, and visor....sold it off 33 years ago...I was a young kid and I had the best looking truck in Anchorage Ak. at the time....I was thinking if I can't get another panel...without dumping a ton of dough into it, I would go for a station wagon....I'm out of the loop for quite a while, didn't realize that they were the rage now....Oh well....Doug
