I love to use old falling down buildings as backgrounds for my automotive photography. I love the contrast of the old and worn with the new and shiny.

Here is a new muscle car in front of a decrepit warehouse...

And, a new Audi with an old grain elevator...

Oh hell, you got me started on cars, my drug of choice. Here is a 1953 Corvette with an old liquor store in Taylor, Texas...

And, yes, it is a real 1953 Corvette, restored fantastically by a man named Jeff Snyder, one of the finest car restorers I have ever met, and I have met the best.

I would rather have a spot that is flater, softer and dryer.

You guys are great picture-takers. I need to practice more, I guess. Here are some I have posted on my web site:

This is my main workstation at home. I use Ubuntu Linux, and this shows what my machine does when I change from one desktop area to another.

I spent 8 weeks in Baltimore as part of my job. This is the Baltimore Inner Harbor.

This is the end result of a Dutch oven workshop we run in Rathdrum, Idaho every year. This year's workshop is on the 25th of this month.

Here's another one from me. I played with this in Picasa3 and resized it with Paint. I like it, it's easy for me...a very non-professional. I have a tip for those considering a new digital camera. Know your instructions well. We had our whole vacation to Colorado on the camera, we were trying out some of the built in effects, pushed the wrong button and deleted all of them.

If you don' t use the card right after doing that, there is software that will recover the photos. It works pretty well. I've recovered a lot of photos for a lot of people.

I found a fun website where you can mess around with your photos and get special effects with one click. It's called http://www.befunky.com

You can turn photos into cartoons.

Where did you get it? We didn't get it, we built it!

It was 2005. We had a sole source contract with CitiFinancial, and I was doing software support with them. That was two jobs ago - I have since done insurance software and am now doing network security software.

The Citi office was on Calvert, I believe. It was an easy walk from there down to the harbor.
