All the ones in the North country are no power, others like Letchworth are all WITH power...strange but true. Others like Keuka lake (my secret park) and Watkins Glen have a mix of both. The reserve america thing seems to be pretty much right on.

I have started a logbook with notes of the best sites. I need both flat hard ground and power for the perfect site being a wheelchair user.

CS, where is the Keuka Lake park. I grew up in Hammondsport but I'm not familiar with a camping area along the lake.

Can you share your "secret"?

Marvin, I've used charcoal for cooking (and coffee making) for a lot of years.
Of course, a small camp stove is very convenient and relatively cheap way to go too..

If you look around, a "single burner" coleman stove is a good option too. Walmart has a good selection.

Once the coffee is "perked" in the morning it can be kept nice and warm in the fireplace.

Arne, think you have an extra night in there...mine is $89 total for 4 nights. wen-sun. Fee is $21/ with the reservation fee of $9....

Kurt, you want me to give up secrets on an open forum..lol

Keuka is just south of Penn Yan http://nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/info.asp?parkID=37 huge sites camping is a bit away from the beach and lake up a big hill, nice mix of electric and non. Super clean and wheelchair friendly (hand held shower and bench) in the FREE showers

All the camping photos in my album are from there last year. Wine and Amish country all around and a farm market about 2 miles away. :applause:

Kurt,

Pat and I have reservations for 2 nights at Keuka Lake SP on the way up to FCP. It's right in the heart of wine country. We're staying at River Trail Crossing the first night in Butler, OH where there is a Buckeye gathering later that month, then 2 nights at Keuka, and then on to FCP. We're coming back a more eastern route down I81 and think we will wing it on the way back. Things shouldn't be too busy during the week.

We're at FCP for 6 nights, Wed til Tues.

The Keuka SP looks like a perfect (almost) stopover for the trip to FCP. Being close to the "Thruway" and to Rt 81 makes it an easy stop.
My wife and I will probably drive from Chicago on Tuesday.
We're going to a wedding in Minneapolis over that weekend and then leave Tuesday to head east. I'm storing the TD at a campground (Michigan City) while we go to Chicago, then Minneapolis, and then return on our way to FCP.

If we leave early (Tuesday), we can make FCP by about 6:00 or 7:00pm.

If we leave Monday we can stop over near Rochester (Jeanie's brother's) and then come in to FCP mid day Tuesday.

Plans are a little "sketchy" right now but either way we'll be there.

Arne... you must have booked the 'deluxe' site with all the fixins... hookups, hot tub, butler. The rest of us cheapies are only paying $21 a night, as per Kurt.

For any reservation questions (or anything else for that matter), be sure to ask Ranger Jill.

PS. Taking the teardrop down to Fish Creek this weekend to camp amongst the snowbanks. Brrrr!

Cheers
