Lost job

Postby H@nk » Fri Apr 17, 2009 10:48 am

Hi all,

Unfortunaly for me, because of the crisis, I lost my job.
Happily I'm not the only one, with me in the company there are 22 others who lost their jobs. I was working for over 13 years now. So the project will be very slow down, until I find an other job.
I still shall have work until week 30, but then it's all over.

Greetings Henk

Henk-

Sorry to hear - I have been there - a couple of times.

Just remember that getting a new job is also a full time job in itself.

BEST OF LUCK

Lost mine in Sept '08. Two jobs since the New Year. I know it's not much consolation when you are in that position (I didn't believe it myself while unemployed..) but just hang in there. Something good will come along.

Don't be too hard on Hank. English is not his first language, and sometimes trying to translate just doesn't come out the way you want it to.
Translating from Dutch to English can at times be very funny, or very embarrassing.......Being a Canadian born Dutchie, I know.......

The Dutch word ongelukkig can mean unhappily, unfortunately,unluckily,miserably.....
Gelukkig then means happily, fortunately.lucky,joyfull,blissfull.....
When translating, its easy to drop the prefex..

What I meant to say is this, its not disfunction on my side.
As we say in dutch "laat maar", a free translation is: let but. In english or hopefuly american it is never mind, you're welcome. So I thought I had the right way of translation, but after reading this, I have to admit, you are right. I am NOT happy that 22 others lost their jobs. POINT. Now I sound like some politicians given their appologies to the people.Or maybe a banker.
Sorry I was such a fool.

Grtz Henk

P.S. Thanks John for your support, I maybe was a little over reacting.
Next time I shall have the dictionairy at my left hand.

Heikki,

I know what you meen, but when you or in this case I, think better, I should have known it. You can't just translate one language to an other. And when I am writing on a forreighn forum, I like to be perfect, or as close by as possible. Its hard, I know, but then I try harder.

Anywhere else I readed long time ago, OH LORD KEEP MY BIG MOUTH CLOSED

Hey Hank, according to the Americans, English isn't our first language either  Don't worry about it Mate and do not keep your mouth shut.
Cheers
Paul

PS Sorry to hear about your situation. Down here we are up to 35000 jobs being lost on a monthly basis.
