Postby norm's tear drop » Sun Apr 19, 2009 5:49 pm

Can some one give me an idea of what a sheet (4x8) of aluminum cost and were i can get it ? a friend told me the stuff was exspensive ? also can you get bigger than $x8 ? It might help me decide on what im going to wrap this thing with > might use sheet metal and paint the thing might woody it as well price of material is not a big issue but want to nail this thing down now and get started

Where are you at Norm? You never know, someone might have a deal for you or know where a good local supplier is....

Sheeting

Postby BillandMarijo » Sun Apr 19, 2009 6:20 pm

Norm,
Welcome. I paid about $250 for my aluminum sheeting. Cant quite remember, it was a 5x10ft sheet. I found it at a Tractor Trailer Parts Sales.
But I am in Altoona Pa. Where you from you didnt say.
Good luck on your build.

...you are looking at around 75bucks for a sheet of 4x10x.032/.040 mill finish AL...much more than that and you should look elsewhere...metal suppliers, sheet metal shops, sign shops, tractor trailer repair places(usually 102" wide on a roll) race car(stock car) suppliers are a few of the laces to look...online, try www.saf.com but shipping can be a killer.......

I paid $74 for a 4x8 .032 sheet in the Toronto area at the metal supermarket. They even cut it to size for me.

I've just ordered enough aluminium to cover both of our trailers. The stuff comes on a roll thats about 8ft wide. Ive just ordered a piece 35ft long and it came in at less than £200. The stuff is .8mm thick/ 0.032.
I thought it was going to be nearly double what I paid, so I'm made up.

It's coming from Aalco
