Greetings from Australia

Postby Downunder Dave » Thu Apr 30, 2009 1:46 am

Hi to all, by way of introduction, My name is David and I am from Geelong, Victoria Australia. I completed my teardrop camper about 8 months ago after building it took just over 3 months. There are not as many tears in Ozz as you would find in the States but we are starting to see more of them around.
I built mine with the assitance of Big Woody Campers and Aussie Teardrops. I have check out this forum before but only now decided to post. Hope to provide some pics soon.

Cheers Downunder Dave [quote] A BAD DAY CAMPING IS BETTER THAN A GOOD DAY AT WORK

Dave, welcome to the forum. The Teardrop population in OZ seems to be on the increrase.
Glad to see it. The concept got me "hooked" right away and I've enjoyed it ever since.

Dave, the world is full on coincidences... When I went to a Nevil Shute conference in Langwaaren, I also visited the friend of a friend in Geelong... a very old Polish fellow who had been a ww2 pow in Germany...

His son took us to several places, including 'the rip' where the harbor enters the ocean. And I became a fan of 'sea change' here on public tv... saw the clothes pin statues on the beach and saw the shark cage.. and had lunch at one of the several restaurants on the beach.

The only downside? I can't get VB beer here in the states. They live on Ballarat Rd. in north geelong.... had a great train trip from Melbourne to Geelong....

Anyhow, welcome to the madness, and enjoy your t/d.... they allow great adventures to happen..... on the cheap.

Image to the playground Dave. I don't suppose you attended the Easter thing down there? I only saw a few pictures. You will notice that Paul C. is a moderator here and is from Adelaide.

Have fun and do please share the scenery.

Thanks for the welcome, Even though I dont see many tears traveling around the country I suspect there are quite a few hiding in garages across the country.
As yet I have not followed up on the Australian Teardrop Forums.
I have uploaded some build pictures into my album and will certainly share some travel pics. I am blessed as I believe that I live in the best part of the country in one of the most scenic countries on the globe.

8) Cheers for now Dave

Dave, great looking teardrop.

The teardrops in this part of the country are very active at region gatherings, but I have yet to see very many on the road.

Maybe we're all shy when we are not attending a gathering.

Whn I went to Minden (ITG 1) I did see any on the road (800mi trip) until I got there.

It's wierd, but I know they're out there.

Thanks Kurt, Like all new dads we are just a little proud of the finished project.
:)
I was a little surprised just who comfy they are to sleep in.

I have seen a couple over here, they seem to be a little more popular with the Hot Rod scene.
The quote made me smile, I know they're out there, like something from an X FILE show.

Cheers Dave
