I called the campground this afternoon. Hemlock and Apple Tree loops are the "reservable sites" at this campground. There are absolutly NO sites still available for reservation for that weekend. However, all other sites are "first come, first serve." This includes all of Dogwood (right across the road from Apple Tree). I'm debating taking the risk and trying a shot at one of those sites (depending on whether I could take enough time off of work to get up there sooner).

wish we could be closer to you guys! :(

Carla and I will be about an hour and a half southwest of Asheville this weekend. On our way home, on Monday, we will check out Davidson River State Park and see which of the other loops would be the best for the overflow people. I will also check with the Park Rangers about putting teardrops on tent sites. It shouldn't be an issue, but it's best to check this stuff out first.

Good idea Ross, you might also ask about putting two tears on a regular site. It would be very easy to place two on a regular site if they will allow it.
Let's go camping!

I was kinda thinking along those same lines Frank. We may have to find some where to put the vehicles. If I remember, the site we had last year was just big enough for the truck and the tear. However, there were a few single sites that were larger.

Ross,, when Pete and I stopped there after Racoon hollar the said we could put our trailers on the tent pads. we had a double site but on a single site one trailer on the tent pad and one on the driveway and we would have it made,, we could always park a truck or car in an overflow area close by,, Ill give dat a thumbs up,,

This is what I love about this group. Thanks guys for trying to help us "procrastinators" out. Regardless, we hope to be up there Thursday mid-morning. Have a safe trip, Ross! :applause:

It's about 720 miles round trip for me. I sure hope gas is available and at a lower cost than now. I also have to buy Wanda 3 Pink crew shirts.

Well just got back in from a 4 day camping trip. Stopped of at Davidson River State Park and met with Chris and Susan Christopoulos (last years Campground Hosts) as well as the Head Park Ranger. Good news is....I just saved a bunch of money by switching my car insurance to.......  :x Seriously, the good news is, they are looking forward to us returning and Chris was wondering if Frank is going to be driving his Hotrod, The bad news is..."YOU CAN NOT HAVE MORE THAN ONE MOVEABLE AXLE ON A SINGLE SITE". Did you notice the quote marks, the Park Ranger stated that this is the Forestry Law. So bottom line is, only One trailer and a tent is Allowed on a single site. I am thinking that this is a safety issue incase the park needs to be evacuated.

As for an Over-Flow loop or loops....... Sycamore would be the best and then Dogwood. Both Chris and Susan stated that these two loops are on a First Available basis and it would be wise to get them no later then That Friday morning. The Fall Colors will be at thier prime.

We truly hope to make this event the biggest Southern gathering to date and I do believe that we may just do that. We will get in to the food and costume/decorations in the next few days

Hey Alan, Aint me and Carla in that list somewhere? :R
