Side Wall thickness

If I go with 3/4 inch plywood, do I really need to add all the wood framing? Or if I have solid wood framing, can I go with light pannelling?

Dr. Steve,

If you use 3/4" plywood for the side walls, you need nothing else. The original teardrops used 1/2" plywood for the walls with nothing else but aluminum covering.

I used a 3/4 Truck FRP (Fiberglass Reinforsed Plywood)

for my walls. So far so good. Some say that without insulated sidewalls you can get condinsation over night. On my first two nights at 45* I did not have condinsation.

Just a note to let you know that 3/16 inch lauan plywood can be used, I know, that's how I built both of my woodies.

I found some surplus at a local truck body builder. I got a great deal on it. One sheet, that I made both sides and one layer of my floor out of, was 8'x25'. I bet it weighed about 175 lbs. It gave me freedom to make my side 4'9" high and 11' long. Talk about itchy, every cut was thru fiberglass. Great stuff but it added some design challenges.
