SHASTA LAKE AREA / NORTHERN SHASTA COUNTY-
302 PM PDT WED APR 29 2009

...WET WEATHER RETURNING TO INTERIOR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA THIS
WEEKEND...

AFTER AN APPARENT END TO THE RAINY SEASON...IT LOOKS LIKE IT S NOT
QUITE OVER YET. NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COMPUTER MODELS ARE
FORECASTING A WET STORM SYSTEM TO MOVE THROUGH FRIDAY INTO THE
WEEKEND. AT THIS TIME...IT APPEARS THAT LIGHT PRECIPITATION WILL
BEGIN OVER THE WESTERN INTERIOR LATE THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY
MORNING...AND SPREAD EAST ACROSS THE AREA FRIDAY. THE HEAVIEST
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED FRIDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY SATURDAY...WITH
SHOWERS POSSIBLE THROUGH REMAINDER OF THE WEEKEND. THIS STORM WILL
CONTAIN ABUNDANT MOISTURE...AND RAINFALL AMOUNTS COULD REACH
UPWARDS OF ONE TO TWO INCHES IN PORTIONS OF THE CENTRAL VALLEY
WITH SEVERAL INCHES OR MORE IN THE FOOTHILLS AND MOUNTAINS THROUGH
THE WEEKEND. THIS STORM WILL ALSO CONTAIN RELATIVELY WARM AIR SO
SNOW LEVELS WILL BE AROUND OR ABOVE PASS LEVELS. SIGNIFICANT SNOW
IS POSSIBLE ABOVE 7000 FEET...AND THIS COULD MAKE FOR DIFFICULT
TRAVEL CONDITIONS FOR THOSE HEADING INTO THE HIGH COUNTRY THIS WEEKEND.

Hope you guys have big fires and stay dry. Great weekend for stew, I will be at a dog thing in Patterson CA and plan on making my famous Montana Cowboy Pot Roast. For the recipe, go to Camp-Cook.com and check Main Dishes.
Have a great time and don't eat too much pizza.

All packed up and ready to go.
Plan to leave around 4AM and sneak past that nasty LA traffic.
Should be there in time for drinks, dinner and a nice fire to sit by..... :) :) :)

Rain or no Rain

See you all tomorrow.

Good One! Good Attitude!

The weatherman just said that if you have plans, "This is not going to be a show stopper. The rain will happen off and on...."

...That sounds a bit better.

We're packed up and ready to go in the morning. We've got two kids going, 7 and 9, and this should be an adventure with a little rain. We've usually stayed out of the rain.

I'm tentative about coming in friday pm sometime, but I'm fearful I may have strep throat (thank goodness not swine flu!)

Will base my decision on lab reports and how I feel. If up to it may drive up sat morn if not friday.

Please pass the word to Doug, who I requested to save me a spot...

Have fun if I don't make it

We're feeling a little cautious about rain and an "almost done" tear....so we're gonna weather watch today and will drive up tomorrow with or without the tear. Since tonite was supposed to be our first night...we're gonna sleep in the tear tonite anyway and cook my DO meal anyway!!

Oh What Fun!!!!!!! :D Great Idea!

According to the latest weather report, the worst of the storms will happen Firday and Saturday nights, while everybody is sleeping, and only scattered showers the rest of the time. I hope nobody has a leaky tear! :rainy:

We got there Friday night at dark, in pouring rain. very miserable. Our new canopy wasn't large enough to protect the whole trailer so we couldn't cook. We woke up Saturday morning in a puddle and the rain didnt' cease. After a quick walk around and a check-in, we opted to pack up and come home. we coudln't even socialize much as everyone was tryignt o keep their area dry, and we didn't want the kids getting sick.

I salute those who toughed it out the whole weekend, please post pics!!!!!!!!!

I made it down on Wednesday afternoon. The weather was nice thru Friday afternoon. Then the rain came & did not stop. I decided to pack up & leave Saturday afternoon at 2:15pm. I drove straight thru 610 miles to home to sleep in my warm, dry bed. I got home at 1:00am. I only took a few pictures.

We had a great time at Shasta. The dutch oven potluck on Friday was good eatin. Got to meet lots of new friends and see familiar ones again. The rain was wet, of course, but not too cold so it didn't stop the fun.

Doug Hodder's newest trailer is just beautiful. His eye for detail is to be envied. There are just so many talented people in this group.

Thanks Grant and Lisa and all those who helped. What a great event.

We did not make it up...though we did get our tear "campable" it was not rainproof yet...and sadly neither am I. Only a 100 miles or so away, our intent was to head up Saturday for the day, anyway. But I have raging sinus and ear infections...and to go walk around in the rain, albeit to see some incredible tears! would have been silly...my mom was proud of my decision...we're bummed, but looking forward to Father's Day! I'm enjoying the pics!
