Hello

I have been lurking quite a bit as Tear Drops are just awesome. Any way I wanted to say hello and ask a jillion questions in the construction section.

I have read much of sdtrippers2's index (thank you for putting it together) and after checking out 500 plus galley options, my head is spinning.

Welcome Randy. This is an amazing resource isn't it? I know what you mean, there is so many great ideas. I find the more I look I'm starting to get an idea what I might like to try for my first project. And then my second. And so on.... :lol:

It truly is an amazing resource so much talent and ingenuity on display. I have been through the hall of fame. read a bunch of the index articles. and visted alot of user galleries.

I am getting a decent handle on design concepts from a structual perspective, but want to build a trailer that is within my limited woodworking experience.

Yet one thing that is remarkable is how so many folks come up with great ideas to make the most of what really is a small amount of space. Sliding Stoves, Slide out stoves. Cool little ovens, Engle fridges, Pet Cools, TV's, Water Heater's..etc it really takes a great deal of planning.

Check out the bunk bed that Dean A did in his trailer, not only a great idea, but the way he executed it is awesome...Ironically on a small scale the details actually become more important as well as difficult to integrate into a comprehensive package..

Welcome.

Keep in mind that building and owning a TD in Texas, and especially in SE Texas, requires some special things they don't need in Southern California climates.

We almost all have air conditioners in our tears, and a lot of ways to install them. Make sure you get your AC advice from one of us.

Welcome fellow Texan! This site is enormous and I'm constantly finding build threads I haven't seen before.

Like Dog said AC is essential. A buddy of mine that works for Austin Radiological told me he was talking to someone that was about to move to Texas from up north somewhere. They asked if they should consider buying a new car with AC. His answer was perfect. In Texas, AC is not a convenience but is Life-Support!

to the playground Randy. Be sure as you build to remember :pictures:

to keep the bubble oil level and the crowd happy.

Now you don't really "have to have" air conditioning if you are really used to the heat. We have a few who suffer without it.

Not me. Mine has it's own little cabinet and take up more room than any single item. Makes summer longer and much more pleasant.

Randy, welcome to the forum. Texas, oh yes, I remember it well. I drove all day heading west on my honeymoon, 56 years ago and never left the state all day long...........
Teardrops have been built out of old apple crates and rusty screws........I know, that is how mine was made. Good luck, and post pics.
