Is you trailer covered

Postby Ron Dickey » Sat Aug 23, 2008 9:22 pm

Mine at this time is not.
I have AAA Plus but not on my trailer.

I only have some on my trailer it I am attached to my car if I get hit. It might be considered as on my home insurance

What do you
Road side

what do you have
or wish you had when....

Yes! Insurance is dirt cheap for the miles per year I put on it. If I was only using it for the occasional weekend I might reconsider.

Insurance? Yup....people need to remember that your normal auto insurance policy will only cover damage that YOU do with your trailer to someone elses property. In this situation you are on your own for any damages to your trailer. If you clip a tree and tear off a fender or back into something and trash the hatch...tough! If you want your trailer covered for damages, it will take a separate policy to cover the tear. I buy it...137$ for 12 mo. for 10K coverage, at least when mine are really new, after that I drop it if I'm not using it a lot. It just went up in the last year or so, rates depend on your location. Your best bet is to check with your insurance provider to see how you are covered. Not all providers may have the same coverage. Doug

Yes.

It is fully covered by a separate policy.

As Doug stated, your car insurance ONLY covers the damage your trailer might do to someone elses property when connected to your car...

I've never had to file a claim, so I can't say how good it is, but I have an agreed value policy backed by a professional appraisal, with photos.
Didn't make sense to tell them I wanted insurance, and then let the insurance company decide how much it is worth AFTER it was destroyed...

Might be nice to know which insurance companies will or won't cover domicile engineered travel trailers. I am one of the uninsured. How about some of you insured telling who your insurance is with.

I was just going to ask that question since my cars are insured with ESURANCE and I don't believe they insure trailers.

Mine is State Farm. $218 per year with a $100 deductible. Covers everything including seperate towing. They valued the TD at $13,000. I don't know where they came up with that figure.

My trailer has sat sense lopez lake wkend event and just before that the NM trip. Just giving it tender love and fixing up the inside more.

I am considering Good Sam VIP offering many aditional things
or with State Farm I could get a reduction because I use them on other things.

Do any of you know about Good Sam Club and VIP??

 I already pay $550 a month to State Farm $> for the cars, house, boat, life, etc.  Since the actual value of our supplies is less than $1000 I don't know if I want to spend any more money on insurance! I'll have to think on that...

Farmers Mutual ~~mine is pocket change also 37.00 a year. Built the trailer for just under $1,000.00. They covered it for $3,000 without batting an eye. After seeing the Yoder damage thread I am so glad I have it fully covered. Think of the time invested! Think of seeing the contents of your little tear strewn all over the interstate. That's a lot of peace of mind for less than we spend for a weekends camping.
