I've been stripping a RV for parts, aluminum siding is still on it... when I peeled the hardboard shower stall liner..... the inside of the exterior siding was visible... looked brand new from the inside..... might be worth taking a look at... it covers the 1" square tubing....

I pulled the tub liner out, bathroom counter (took the small stainless oval sink months ago) 12volt fuse box and main breaker box and 15 awning (not that I'm sure I'll use it, but.... ) I took a couple windows out along with the screen door (I want the door too, but just had a feeling, the screen door might disappear if I didn't get it then.

took pics of some of my accumulated junk, will try getting them on my gallery.

pretty much the only thing left on RV is my ONAN 4.0 generator, roof air and ladder to the roof, and the two doors and a half dozen windows (and siding and 1" aluminum tubing) between myself and the owner... there isn't much left.... and if they hadn't screwed the cabinets in from the exterior walls and roof, I would have taken a few of them..... short of getting a saws all and cutting the screws, it wasn't worth the work to take them, not to mention, 3/4" plywood is heavyier than I want to put into my camper when I start building it (other than possibly the floor of the camper)

Got some more work done last weekend...
first, the beer of the week: Anglers Pale Ale.

Got the interior painted:

had to fill lots of staple holes:Image

the potti painted: Image
Murphy claiming his spot:

Interior items remaining:carpet walls/ceiling and floor.
Make countertop and table top. I have a pedestal base for the table so that's just a matter of cutting a top out of 3/4 ply and lacquering it.
Wire two 110v outlets.
Other than that I'm on to the outside. I'm hoping my tax check comes soon so I can buy the lexan , coilstock, and windows I need for the outside.

More to come

P.S. Les... are any windows available from your salvage?

Mark,
Yeah...there were lots of staple holes!. And the usual imperfections one finds when using Home Depot/Chinese ply.

BTW,anyone see the story about Chinese drywall causing health problems?
Looks like a class action suit in the works.

Anglers Pale is good I don't usually go for the pales but this one was good.
I prefer redheads to blondes, when it comes to beer anyways!

Starleen,
Thanks. I'm getting better every day. Luckily, I'm still young enough to heal quickly. 39 is still young ,right?

Well it's been a few weeks since I dropped in and a bit longer since I got any work done on the Highlander. We've had really good weather and the "estate" needs much attention.
Hope to be back on the camper in a week or so but I thought I'd show everyone what I've been up to.

I found this for free on Craigslist:
Image

I picked up two of them and thought that two of them bolted together would make a nice pool house/cabana.

In progress;

Done:
Image
The section with the door is the "changing" room. The other half houses two bunk beds for the kiddies to sleepover or friends who may have enjoyed their visit to Club 31 too much.
The best part is this was built with 90% recycled/reclaimed materials. Total cost to build: $50 USD

Now I can keep wet kids and wet swimsuits outside the house.

I also found this 5 x 8 deck on a tree lawn.Talk about a killer ground score. It was in absolute perfect shape and almost instantly doubled the size of my bar. Life is good.
Image
Hope everyone is well, I'll be back to work on the HIGHLANDER soon.

Pretty sweet, Mark! How about some interior shots? Is there a door or opening between the two sections?
God Bless

Bob,
Nice building. $800 is still a deal for a nice looking structure. I like the shape.

Mark,
Thanks. I thought the boxes and the deck was a good score. My favorite four letter word is FREE. My second favorite four letter words are Good Beer. You won't find any Budweiser in my fridge. Not much food either but that's another story.

Cliff,
I'm still working on the interior, but yes, there are two holes cut between the boxes for access to the bunks. And a ladder. The other side just has a small bench for changing. I'll post some pics of the inside this weekend.

As for the Highlander, I'm picking up an aluminum brake today so I can start bending siding today or tommorow. I should be able to get the exterior weathered in this weekend or early next week.

Started on the siding...
but first, the beer of the week Fishermans Ale from Cape Ann Brewing.Kolsh Style.

And the siding:
Image

I managed to get one side done and about half of the other side. Should have it wrapped up by the end of the weekend.

I bent the siding using Len's tutorial, which came in very handy. Took a few attempts to get the hang of it, been a long time since I used a brake. It's real difficult to get the siding dead flat. After I got a few pieces up I was starting to question if I liked it or not but then I came to realize the waves, dimples, etc give it that old school character so what the heck.

More updates to come...
