Dam Gathering attendees....fess up!!!

Grant reports that we had nearly 6 inches of rain from Fri. afternoon till Sunday....I know of several people that had water issues on their tear...me included. I had left the vent a bit too open and water came off the ez-up over the galley and splashed into the interior.

I also had left the door open for most of the days, and while under the new awning, that got saturated, somehow water got in that door a lot of it off my raincoat. The door that was closed was fine. I also left the tongue box slightly ajar and found a lot of water (standing) in the tongue box. Got a spot that showed up on one of the corners, as the wood swelled. While I had the galley covered with the ez-up for just standing around under some cover, the rest of the trailer was out in the rain for the entire time. Who else had some problems with water or am I the Lone Ranger? I peeled off my clothes at night and then just left them out on the ground as they were soaked anyway...glad I had a pair of dry shoes in the pickup. Doug

Kev's 48 faired well at the gathering, but I did have to take action and keep the galley lid shut. I think water was getting under the aluminum at the bottom of the hatch and running down inside.
Now the drive home on Monday was a different story...
BTW-Sunday was nice at Antlers.
I broke camp around noon on Monday and it was raining.
The farther West I drove, the harder it rained... It rained all the way home.
I knew some water would get in along the door bottoms and it did...
I ducked under trees for cover on the way home when I could toweling off the dampness each time I stopped.
By the time I got home at 8:30pm I removed all the bedding and mattress to dry things out.

Dean...on Sun. when I got home, it was bucketing rain, had a river on the street. I got it in the garage, built a fire in the stove and lifted the mattress, stuck a fan in the door and dried it all out. I just can't believe how much rain we got that weekend! Tonight, I washed off the new awning and the exterior rugs, ez-up etc....it's been sitting on the driveway since I got home. Doug

We were in a tent for the gathering. Left Saturday around 3 PM. Water was soaking through the tent by that time. Had to pack up in the rain. What a mess and got soaking wet to boot. Only had rain driving south for about an hour. Got home around 3AM. Got up at 8 and spend the next 3 hours in the sun shine washing out the tent, lawn chairs and ice chest.
Also put the sleeping bags in the driveway to dry out. Lot more rain than I had planned for. But that is why I'm building my tear drop. Next time......

Our Little Guy stayed dry inside and that's the only place it has stayed dry! It rained three days at the gathering.Then we were in rain or snow all the way to Bremerton,WA ! Seven days all together! I think I'll plan my vacation for later in the year next time!!

the only rain we got in the trailer was coming in around the galley hinge when the galley was open, as for the rest of the trailer no water of any kind made it in. what kept the water from going from the galley to the inside of the trailer, was when i rebuilt the galley i sealed and resealed every piece of wood that came together, i had a lot of standing water in the galley at one time before i found that it was coming in around the hinge. As for all the Awning and the side tent and popups they are still soaked as i just got them set up to dry out, always something to look forward to after spending 5 days in the hospital for food posion. will get everything cleaned and dried out for the next fun filled trip.
Doug thanks for the apple pie by the way that was the last bit of food i had untill last night.

Had an issue with water leaking around my galley hinge when open due to operator error. Put a new seal on the galley and sealed the top side real well. Got thinking I didn't seal the bottom side of the hinge. Worked real well except when the hatch was open in the rain. Kinda makes the bottom the top. Duh! Had a little water inside when we got home as I left one window open a little for the dog. Found out the TD and El camino handle real well in the snow as Larry and I hit some pretty nasty weather on top of the Siskiyou Pass. Other than that we actually had a really good time. Looking forward to next year as usual. Teardrop to New York in 3 weeks. Even going to a TD event back there. Tearup at Fish Creek. Should be fun. Jerry

Saturday night I thought I felt some dampness on the foot of the bed. I checked it over sunday afternoon when I arrived back home, the bed & trailer was bone dry. I guess the makeshift tarp cover worked. I thought sure I'd have a leak somewhere given the amount of rain we had over the course of the weekend.

I was dry. But my e-z up covers my whole tear and then some.

the foot of the bed got wet. rain got in to the galley and ran down the inside wall. Kennys side of the matteress got wet at the door. Maybe didnt have the window shut all the way.
Putting a tarp up fixed the galley part. It wasnt too bad.
came home and bought a second canopy. From now on we will have one to cover the tear and one behind for the chairs and table.

Wolfgang just to let you know Sunday when we got up it wasnt raining and all the ground water was GONE! It was like a small pond from his site over to ours. Our firepit was under water. The family between us only stayed for about 12 hours and packed up and left. we still had a great time

One thing I learned for next time it decides to rain non-stop at a gathering... I'm gonna take some sealant and apply it to our EasyUp cover at every location where there's a velcro attachment sewn in. (The cover dripped at those locations)
