NEW 2006 Little Guy deluxe for $2300 (Pics)

Postby Zig » Sun May 17, 2009 9:10 pm

Yep, we pulled the tiger, Found this one on Craigslist, brand new, 2006 with 10X10 tent, gas grill, alloy wheels, spare tire for $2300. I'm thinking that we did alright.:D Dear wife says we now have to sell our toyhauler.
We filled out our passport application last week and if all works out, we are not messing around,... we are going to Alaska! We actually been planning this for awhile now. We were going to take the 12mpg truck and truck camper. But I'm thinking my wife's Vibe should be able to handle this Little Guy.
There was a whole story on this camper. somehow we got the wrong mattress, way to big. I wonder if Little Guy manufacturer can help me get the right one. Are they good to work with? We actualy don't live to terribly far from Elkhart, so I'm thinking.........
Did we do OK?
They have another one,... basic shell for $1800.

Do they Pre-Wire the 14X14 vent opening for a power vent? I have a powered vent from when we added A/C to our truck camper,,, this new 2006 has a broken vent cover so I need to get it fixed and figured I might as well use this powered vent that I already have laying around. Do ya figure they ran a power line to the vent already?

Are they not Made in Elkhart? Where I bought it they casually said that they had got them from Elkhart, then when I googled them last night Canton came up, so I got very curious and dug a little deeper and on the little guy web site they said they are made in Elkhart, IN. No big deal, Elkhart are just up the road about 70+ miles, so I thought I might see if they might help me with a few minor issues.
I have been looking at the little guy'd for over a year now, been looking for something that my wife's Pontiac Vibe could tow, (keep it under 1500lbs) and this deal just popped up on craigslist. My dear wife is just about ready to kill me because it is number 3 for us, 21' toyhauler that she wants me to sell very much, a small slide-in truck camper that we use ALL the time and was seriously thinking about taking to Alaska this summer, but the 12mpg thing is just killing me,... so, take the Vibe, pack lighter, have fun, when we get back, we'll see.
I have towed a little with the Vibe and it does really well, don't know for sure, but will probably get a tran cooler installed for the big trip?
Gonna pick it up this afternoon, take a few pictures, see about posting them here and RV.net.

That's a very good price for a new LittleGuy -- I assume it is a 4-wide?

The guys at LG are easy to work with. I had one, and they were good to me.

Yes, the opening is wired for a fantastic fan. Call them, and they will tell you how to hook it up to work.

I would definitely add a tranny cooler. They don't cost a lot, and they can save you a bundle in tranny damage. Low-cost insurance, IMO.

Welcome to T&TTT! :P
Thanks for posting those pics, but... You're still teasing those of us who're planning their trailers for the first time! :poop:

May we please see some shots of the galley and the cabin? Thanks so much.

Errrr... wait. I suppose I could go look on the Little Guy website. :DOH2:

Sincerely,

Capt. Obvious :cigar:

I'm slowly learning about what exactly we got. (shame on me from all you that are building yours) This rig has NO inside electricity, the few lights that iy has are self AA powered! I dont think the vent could be ready when there is no inside wiring, at all. Right now and for our big trip, I'm thinking that I like it like that. Simple.
I just called Little Guys about the wrong mattress problem and I'm getting that fixed and think we will get the optional receiver tube to mount a small hitch haul. Space and packing will be at a premium. Our old philosophy was, "Do ya think we'll need it? Take it!"

^ Thanks, Zig! Post up some sleeping cabin shots when you can.

Take the following newb ponderings with a grain of salt...

Simple is good! but you'll need the fan for ventilation, and to power the fan (as well as some reliable reading light) you'll need a deep-cycle battery. An AGM/absorbed glass mat battery won't outgas nearly as much as the strong and reliabel golf cart T105 batteries... an AGM may be the ticket for your tear. If you can't seal off, then vent the battery mounting area in the tear's galley then you'll have to mount the battery on the trailer tongue, but watch the tongue weight.

To get from the battery to the interior, drill one, or two, very, very small holes in an inconspicuous location, use rubber grommets and some silicone, and temporarily tape any inside wiring into the corners.

Of course I would imagine that experienced tent campers would say that they wouldn't need "no stinking deep cycle battery", haha, but an RV'er that knows how to manage a 12V system should have one. Planning for my 12V system is part of the fun of pondering my teardrop.

Thanks again for the add'l pictualz.
