We're home, actually about 6:30. It's a 8 hour trip pulling the Scout, and yes Julie, it does use lots of gas. It was better today without the wind gusts. Sure had a good time seeing everybody! Thanks to Ed and Ruby for all your hard work, you went way above and beyond. You made it a really great weekend. It's an amazing park too!

Oh, well. I had fun in spite of the rain -- and almost blowing away Friday night.

Note to self: Don't use a cooler full of ice to hold down a tent in hurricane-force winds.

Sorry ya'll got drowned. Where is everyone else? Where da pics? So tell the story Glenn. You know you want to share. 8)

Well, the good news on my end was that the Mercedes Diesel SUV got me to Palo Duro and almost back home again on one tank of fuel -- the total fuel cost was $34 for the trip.

The bad news is that the sudden windstorm that hit us on Friday turned my tent over like a turtle, and dumped my cooler for of ice all over the inside of the tent. That was followed by much profanity. MUCH profanity.

Friday night, I didn't sleep much at all, since the sides of my tent were popping, and sometimes slapping the sh*t out of me.

Time out! There is a firetruck and ambulance on my street -- just got here. I'm human, so I gotta' check this out.

Okay, back the the story...

Saturday, we had a pretty good time, even though is was raining most of the day, and a bit chilly.

Saturday night was nice. Good Pot Luck dinner. Good drinks and chatter at Danny's site. Good sleeping weather.

Sunday, the day we all had to go home, was PERFECT, of course.

I'll have some pictures ready tomorrow. I'm too tired to mess with that tonight.

:o Oh I am sorry you got the stuff slapped out of you. Mike and I realized that one of the places he most wanted to visit was at Palo Duro.......Maybe next year. We were watching a nasty storm just N. of Amarillo and moving to I-4o.

Terri and I made it home safely around 6:45. We had a wonderful time seeing old friends and meeting new ones. We would like to give a huge THANKS to Ed and Ruby for doing such a wonderful job organizing everything and keeping us all fed and happy. As for the weather, the only thing that we didn't get was snow. :D Thanks again to Ed & Ruby for being such wonderful hosts and friends, and to Glen and Jack for supplying Pina Colada's for everyone. Also, the pot luck on Saturday was outstanding! Thanks to everyone who contributed. A special note to Danny, stay away from sharp objects! Looking forward to seeing you all again.

Miriam... I got caught in that storm... I was on I-40 about 60 miles east of Amarillo and it was POURING and blowing so hard , couldn't see. Starting hailing so I had to pull over, couldn't see at all. Hail was only for a bit and pea size maybe... Just had to stop for about 10 minutes then went westward again and got away from the storm. I think there was a small tornado in Pampa ... I saw a couple of semi's blown over... just glad the Jewel Box didn't go belly up!

Julie you are probably right. If I remember right that is the storm that had one in it. They said it was rain wrapped. We were hoping all of you got there early. Sounds like West Texas in Spring....... Kinda like OK and MO.

We got home aroung 7:00. Had a great time even though we were sleeping in a tent. Was good to get away from the build and spend some much needed time with friends. Thanks to Ed and Ruby for all the work they put in making us welcome at Palo Duro. Had a great time and good trip home.

Sounds like us at Lake Ray Roberts in December except it was 40 degrees outside. That was not a fun night. Our tear is now campable and we will test it out this weekend at Lake Texhoma. Hopefully next year we can make Palo Duro. Wish we could have been there this year.

Thanks to all of you for braving our West Texas Weather. We tried to give you a sample of everything but we missed the snow. Friday evening we learned the true meaning of "fast" food. If you didn't hold it on your plate it blew away-fast. It was really great to see every one and thanks to Mike & Brenda for the name tags. I tend to forget a lot of things including names, but as soon a I see the name it "oh yeah, now I remember.) Thanks to all of you for all you did to help make this a good time in spite of the wacky weather. We are already looking forward to next year. Ed & Ruby

Thanks Ed & Ruby, Ya'll did a great job taking care of everything and everyone. We're looking forward to coming back next year if you'll have us all. Beautiful park and great people. I think we had about 20 campsites occupied. Did anyone count them?

Woody, No thanks are needed it was our pleasure. We are always happy to share our backyard(lol) with our friends. We had 20 campsites 21 campers if you count the fact that Julie & Dave&Cindy shared a campsite. I think we had 50 people. It was a great group and the park personal did a great job of keeping us in the same campground and fairly close to each other. The park was really full. We are already looking forward to next year. ..Where to start...that park is absolutely amazing...definitely should be on everyone's short list of must see places......
Ed & Ruby...thanks are just inadequate for the job y'all did to put this on and show us all some serious Texas hospitality...ya did ya selves proud!!!!!!!
Good to meet some new teardrop friends an as always, great to see and party with the "regulars"
We spent Sun nite at Lake Arrowhead SP, just outside of Wichita Falls and finally made it home about 10PM last nite(Mon)...hadda flat tire on the car, just after crossing the La state line, on a 2lane, no shoulder road...so the adventure continued all the way home    (gotta laugh or?????)
Anyway, more stories and pics of this adventure later.......
