Question about the door seals, "T" molding all of

Postby Von Pook » Tue May 19, 2009 2:21 pm

I am wondering how to best seal the doors on the tear I am building. Should I run "T-molding" all of the way around the doors? Thus creating an over-lapping edge in which to place the weather stripping? The top of the doors are curved, is it possible to bend "T-molding" and still have a good seal? Thank you for your time, and a great forum.

Second part of the question, does anyone know of a place to order "T-molding" at a good price and a rapid delivery? I have about 10 days to finish the build before I must make a 4 hour move. Thank you again

Go here:

Has lots of dead-soft trim. Grant has some drawings on how it fits too. I don't know if its the "best" way, but its how I did it and how many many others have as well. If the curve on the door is smooth the T-molding will contour to it nicely. There is a sticky:

that shows how to do it and you might need to trim the inside edge a bit depending on the radius of the curve. I'm sure you'll be getting lots more advice too I just got here first and I'm on my way out so no time to elaborate further. Good luck.

I'm assuming that by "all of the way around" that you were thinking about using T-molding on the hinge sides of the doors. This won't work unless you have hinges offset from the edge of the door so that the jamb side of the "T" lifts away from the door rather than pinches against the side wall.
