How do you make coffee in camp?

I'm with Len and others, it's all part & parcel of the experience

percolator on a Coleman stove, brewed horseshoe strength, accented by the smell of woodsmoke...I can smell it all just thinking about it

the Aeropress does look interesting. But we drink LOTS of coffee in camp

Mr. Coffee in the galley. There is nothing like rolling over and turning on the coffee on a chilly morning. I have a press but it leaves a residue.

If Mike is still sleeping I go outside to make it. I love mornings outside.

Make only 1 mug of coffee at a time but it is the best.

We also drag along an old avacado green perculator we picked up at a yard sale for $2 if we are at an electric site,

I make, I think its called "cowboy coffee". Basically an old-timey looking coffee-pot that you dump coffee grounds and water in and boil it up together. There are some rather large holes in the spout that kinda filter out some of the grounds. This is a camping ritual with me. At home I may drink a cup of coffee every few months or so (using a french press).

a few eggs shells dropped in the pot will settle the grounds too

this thread reminded me of something. If you use a percolator and have your beans ground at your favorite coffee vendor, have them set the grind for French press, not drip. Makes better tasting coffee with less residue.

Elumia -- yep. At camp it's into a big (and I mean big) IMUSA mug, that I probably oughta hold with gloves. But it helps warm the hands. (At camp the water gets hot pretty fast over an SVEA stove, or on the spare burner if the Coleman's out.)
At home, nuke water in a Pyrex measuring cup and pour through a Melitta into the 24 ounce glass jar I saved from some Pace Picante sauce, with a shot-glass full of brown sugar and another one full of Carnation canned milk. Drink it with a straw.

I use one of these Coleman drip coffee makers. They are a bit slow but make really good Java.

As a former Starbucks barista, I am always searching for that "better cup". After our french press broke on a camping trip, I decided to trade up and bought an Aero-Press. It even breaks down small enough to pack easily in my suitcase when I travel for work so I don't have to deal with crappy hotel coffee!
