Baja Benroy weight

Mike, Do you have any idea how much your trailer will weigh when completed? I keep dreaming of building another teardrop but a Sunspot type trailer 5x5x10 might be neat.

My small Benroy is 840 lbs. I can only guess about the large one. I'm thinking maybe it'll be somewhere in the 1200 to 1500# range. It shouldn't be long till we find out. Another month or so...

The sunspot could be built up using 1x2's covered with 1/8" plywood on the inside, and aluminum on the outside. That would make for a very light trailer.

Take lots of pictures if you decide to build a sunspot. It'll be the most information we've had on that trailer in about 24 years!!! :D

Weighing In

Postby tdhombre » Thu Apr 22, 2004 9:05 am

I am in the final stages of building my teardrop and intend to take it by a public scale when I am finished. I believe I have to do that to get it licensed in CA but plan on doing it regardless. I believe it will come in at less that 1,000 lbs. but will post the results when they are in.

Ok, maybe I've not read enough yet. Been reading for an hour now and I'm only 1/2 way done. Lots of stuff happend while I was gone. I've seen the pic's of the sunspot. Got any info on it or should I just wait till I've read the rest of the post for the info.
