Excellent Tom! Looking forward to it! You may not work on it alot but when you do, you really knock out some stuff!

I specifically decided to do one door complete start to finish so when I do the other door, I can know what things not to do!

Well Grant's replacement T-molding came in record time and I had a bit of a lift emotionally so I went out and cut and bent ALL my T-molding for the doors tonight. To be exact, the angle at the top of my doors is 38 degrees. I made one wrong cut out of all of them, but it was just on a test cut and I made sure to think ahead and there was plenty of space to correct the error and I did NOT need to use the extra piece I ordered. Now... I haven't trimmed the notch for the door handle yet so we will see about that haha but I feel much better about this now.

Here is how I clamped down the molding to the miter saw, it cut like butta:

Thomas did you change blades, or just use the wood blades? That apears to be a made for wood miter saw, never would have thought of using that saw.

looking good by the way, del.

Hey, thanks very much! No I didn't change the blade at all, It is a made-for-wood Hitachi. I have cut Orange box angle aluminum with it too which is ok, just go not too slow/not too fast but you better well wear your goggles! "The Diablo" is a nice all around blade to have, but this one came with the Hitachi so I didn't change a thing.

That was the easiest part of trimming the door. A Dremel tool with a small abrasive cut-off wheel made it quick!

Thanks for the idea! I had thought about that before but figured that I might not be able to get the turn just right. I used snips then a file for my first piece but it still turned out pretty rough, so I am definitely gonna go the Dremel way on these pieces! I am glad I messed up that piece because I really wasn't happy with that notch anyway. Thanks again!

OK I am playin while workin. Since I just finished trimming all my door molding, I couldn't resist setting it in place to see how it will look with the doors ON! This is the door for the other side so that's why the handle is in the wrong place.

I don't know what door handles you are using, but you may have the same problem I had. I had to add a piece of trim where the door handle is, so that the base plate of the door handle will sit flat.

Hey, thanks for the info, mine seem to be OK, I just notched the trim and the front and back sit flat against the wood. I will probably need to add a spacer for the back handle since the door will sit out some, but otherwise it is all good. Why was yours not sitting flat? Here's some pics of mine, I just trimmed these couple of edge pieces and screwed them in and my drill battery died and I forgot to pre-charge my other one, so it turned into picture time! I need to get the screws for the front handle still though, the base will line up better once it is screwed in.

I also picked out my curtains! A friend of mine is going to sew them for me.

Dremel? You mean I need to buy another tool?

Thomas - That door trim looks great. It really highlights the door and integrates incredibly with your overall color scheme!

  I said the same thing when I realized I had gone as far as I could without a compound miter saw. (not really, but my hand miter saw was used up.)

I ended up buying a horizontal metal cutting bandsaw for the trim.

Here's a couple more pics...

I couldn't get the top trim to bend fully to the angle and didn't want to make a jig just for two pieces that needed an extra inch and a half so I was at my father's last night and he has a solar screen company and built a bender that worked perfectly!

Image

So I trimmed out the other door today and I had to take a pic with the door handle and window in. Do I look casual enough? The door stayed in by itself just fine but I was holding the window in place haha I want to install the window last because it is so easy to hold on to the door with it out.
