Joe,

The original has a chassis that's mostly oak! So a complete redesign is needed.

The photos of Bob Kloppe's Midget show one way of doing the chassis. Buford may shout at me, but I think this is one trailer where a frame of 2"x1/8" square tube would be appropriate.

The original chassis was much like the one that you did in the other post. I don't see why that won't work today as well as it did back in the 1950's

But I'd build the floor the same as they did back then. Oak.

Steel is more readly avaible then oak i do not feel like driving a 100+ miles for oak. i think steel is more easier to work with then wood
