Brad, I've enjoyed watching your build, too. As far as ITG3, I think that is out of the question for me. If the lack of time doesn't get me, the lack of money will. Maybe ITG4? :roll:

I'm actually shooting for around October to be done for LCG IV. If not done, then at least roadworthy, since I've already paid for the campsite.

Thomas' return to work got me motivated. I finally made it back out into the garage after almost two months of not working.

Since I love woodworking but don't like finishing wood, I thought I'd try something different on the interior. I'm using 5/16" engineered flooring - the multi-layer wood veneer product not the laminate fiberboard type. It is attached to my plywood "frame" by stapling the tabs and gluing the flooring with polyurethane glue. The edges are glued with Titebond III. The flooring sat in my garage for almost 3 months so the moisture content should be the same plywood frame. Here are some pics:

After the glue has a chance to set, I'll use my jigsaw to rough cut the flooring edges and cut out the door and then I'll use my router with a template bit to finish the edges to the profile and opening.

How thick will your final wall be?

Congrats on getting going again. You'll get a second wind when you get the walls up and see it starting to come together...I promise!

Thanks Tony. We too like the wood look. I'm hoping this may be a viable alternative to using hardwood ply on the interior. I caught the flooring on sale at the blue box, and stacked a 10% coupon that I got from the post office, so the total cost won't be much more than the hardwood ply plus cost of stain and varnish or poly.

Thanks for the encouragement Brad! :applause:

Our wall section is 5/16" flooring + 3/4" plywood (actually MDO plywood) + 4mm Baltic Birch Ply + .040 aluminum. To many units of measure and decimals for me, but that would make the wall around 1 3/8" thick if my calcs are about right. (The 3/4" MDO is just "framing." I am using Grant's method of insulated wall construction.)

Man, that is a very inventive idea for the walls! Yeah, after getting back into the sand/stain/polyurethane game this past week. I have further reinforced that I am not a fan of that but that's why they call it work eh! You picked up on an interesting alternative! What are you looking for your headliner? You could do a prefinished plywood like paneling. Glad I could be an inspiration, I guess I better kick in I was slacking for 4 mo haha!

Finally, after a job change, vacation, honey-dos, etc., I finally got a little more teardrop time.

I finished applying the engineered flooring to the plywood sidewall "frame." This is a picture of the flooring from the back side (street side.)

I let the flooring run "wild" then trimmed to the profile with a jig saw followed by a router with a template bit.

Here is one completed interior wall. (Both sidewalls are complete.)

October and LCG IV are coming. I've got to get moving along!

Now for a test of my patience. I need to cut the dado for the rear bulkhead without another "character" mark. Template is in place and my heart is pounding.

Two passes with the router and a pattern bit and we have a dado.

Success! Now all I have to do is cut the dado for the front face frame, and it will be time to start my cabinets.

MAN! You do move in big waves! I totally understand that "I don't wanna, but I gotta" feeling. I really felt that when cutting holes in my hatch for the tail lights and other stuff. Just you wait haha

I think your interior wall idea is very original!
