HF Hitch Question

Postby Bigwoods » Mon Jun 01, 2009 12:17 am

This may be a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway. I have a terrible time hitching and unhitching my HF trailer. When I put it on the ball I have to jiggle and bounce and sometimes stand on the tongue to get it to seat, It is a equal battle to get it to come off.

I did see a nut on the bottom. Do I need to back this off a bit?

I really don't want the whole thing to come apart going down the road.

(I double check and the ball on both vehicle I use is 1 7/8.)

That nut on the bottom is an adjustment.

Try loosening it a little bit.

You may have to play with it so only loosen it 1/4 turn each time you try it.

There's no reason that ball should not fit in that socket and go in and out easily.

I've gotten several HF frames that have needed adjusting.
